PCM UK parking ticket - how to proceed?
I received a postal notification of parking charge to keeper from PCM UK about a parking intervention. I must admit that I parked there knowing that I do not have the permit. I parked there and went to meet a friend who lives a few streets down from there and no other parking was available nearby. The area is a residential…

Is a lifetime trust worth doing?
Is a lifetime trust worth doing to protect house from care fees to ensure children get the inheritence? Very simple, Mum owns the house, fully paid off, worth less than £300,000, only one child and is wanting to do this to protect the inheritance for myself. I know she has to survive for 7 years after doing it or the…

Potential issue with courier
Hi, We booked a courier via a well known courier website, paid the deposit. Courier messaged saying dropoff scheduled for a specifc day. We were not going to be in and did not want to leave cash, so we said they can leave items in a specific place as its secure and covered by CCTV, and would they take bank transfer. They…

Certificate of structural adequacy
The surveyor of a house we are buying has suggested we hire a structural engineer to provide a Certificate of structural adequacy. The house has been underpinned in the past, but the surveyor did not comment on any signs of current subsidence. Is this normal to get a certificate?

Weed burner - any recommendations please?
Hi all, I am considering buying one of these - can anyone recommend one please? This is primarily for use on our drive - it looks to be old tarmac (ish) with weeds & moss growing through in places. I don't want to use chemicals.

Lebara SIM only does not work
There are other similar threads on this site on problems with Lebara, but as I still see "MSE Blagged" for the Lebara SIM only deal on https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cheap-mobile-finder/sim-only/ I'm creating a new thread hoping Money Saving Expert website admins will sort that out. It seems Lebara does not offer a 5G…

Jet Fuel Shortages & Travel Insurance
I don’t think there’s another post about this specific to my question, but please forgive first time poster. I have a trip booked in the summer with flights, accommodation and car hire all booked individually. Looking at the current oil situation, the projections suggest that there will be a jet fuel shortage in the months…

Nursing home and finance
I need some advice. My parents have joint accounts and house is in joint names. We have been told that my father needs palliative care in a nursing home. Is my mother ok to move some money from her joint account to a sole account? Obviously not all, we want my father to have his care.

ii website?
I just tried to login to the ii website. It says: "Due to planned maintenance work, this service is currently unavailable." but it doesn't say how long it will be offline and they didn't send me any warning in advance. How often does this happen? And is it acceptable?

Euro Car Parks and DCB Legal Discontinuance
My experience with Euro Car Parks goes back to February 2025. I made two visits a few days apart to the car park of a disused building, first to drop off a PC at a repair shop and a second to pick it up again. I didn't see any cameras even though I looked for one so I assumed it was warden patrolled. There was a sign at…

Our forever home
I'm a new mfw 😊, moving over from the dfw board. We moved into our forever home on 16th November 2020. 90% LTV, 25 year mortgage. We've just paid our first standard monthly payment so only 299 more to go!!! We'd like to actually pay it off a little sooner, but due to home improvements and our saving pot for IVF it's likely…

Should estate agent have done checks?
My FIL is buying a flat that is currently rented out but the seller said that the tenant is moving out soon as his contract ends at the end of May but he wants to move out earlier. I used to be a landlord so I know all the risks associated with this. We have found out through the TA6 forms and the survey report that the…

Private operation failed!
Has anyone else experienced something like this? I opted for a private operation because the NHS wait was just too long, but it ended up failing. They told me there was an 80% chance it would be successful, and now I’m back at square one after shelling out about £10k. Is there any chance I could get a refund or something?

Cancelling tax free lump sum application (before payout)
I’m aware that once paid then then paying back the tax free Lump sum doesn’t negate the tax impact and can lead to negative tax consequences. My question is can you cancel the application before the amount is paid out, with no tax consequences/recycling impact? Many thanks.

Paragon Bank - Moving and Transferring out ISA funds?
Does anyone know what happens if you moved funds between your Paragon ISA accounts which leads to the account you're moving out of fall below its minimum balance? Is accrued interest just added to the affected account then closed by Paragon? Regardless if whether the account is setup for monthly or annual interest…

Unfair parking fine
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could recommend the quickest way to get an unfair parking fine cancelled? I know there are various threads on this forum, but I got confused as to the wording to use specific to my case. I visited Liverpool cathedral and paid for the full duration of my parking. The photo shows me exiting…

Quick Check - Gladstones Claim UPDATED 17/4/26 - Set-Aside Obtained & WS rec'd
Afternoon all, been a while although I'm glad to see my old "intellectually malnourished" quote has caught on in my absence! Feel comfortable with the rest of the process off the back of winning a case as a lay rep for someone back in 2023. Had this one through for myself, claim dated 16th April, AOS being handled. This is…

Euro Car Parks Parking Penalty at Esso Garage
Hi, I've received this notice todayin the post as the car registered keeper from Euro Car Parks issuing a parking Charge Notice. I've spoken to the individual who was using my car at the time to vacuum my car and refill the air. The notice on the parking charge states that the time taken to enter and leave was 56 minutes.…

EDF
Hi I swooped from Utilita last Oct 2025 to EDF reading was 398 at the time (active import reading). This was a brand new meter so accumulated this with Utilita over 6 months. This seems about the correct usage each month for a one person flat. EDF have not taken smart readings since so each month I have submitted them…

Parking challenge - court
Hi, i received a parking fine from Civil enforcement Ltd. I think I have made a fairly substantial error in my correspondence with them by admitting my mistake. I did not appeal within the time frame within 28 days but sent this shortly after the 28 days: Good morning, I am writing to explain the circumstances surrounding…
