Tesla PCH terms
My current car (VW) is coming to an end on its PCP deal which I am going to hand back, I have came across a brand new Tesla on a PCH deal 2 year lease around 295pm for 2 years. This seems a really good deal but I have never leased before, was just wondering if there is anything I should be careful of as I know new cars may…

Garage Floor Wet - Rising Water
Hello. I have a detached double garage that's build in the garden, and it is often flooded. Sometimes the entire floor is submerged in 10-15mm of water. I'm not sure of the exact thickness of the concrete base but there's easy 8" visible above ground. When it rains heavy, water can be seen to pool up in other areas of the…

Aggressive buyer Exchange issue
Please advise. My first sale fell through 2 months ago, was for the full asking price and no post survey quibbles. Then down the chain collapsed. New buyer immediately offered a big whack under asking. EA pointed out unreasonable in the circumstances and so raised it a bit. This 2nd survey said roof old but not leaking.…

Bridge to state pension - ringfence funds in lower risk or just draw from overall pot?
Not sure there is necessarily a ‘right’ way but would like feedback. target is to retire in 3 years time. I’ll be 58 and a bit, wife will just have turned 59. 8 years for her state pension to kick in, about 8.5 years for mine. Have a DB pension that should pay £15.5k from april 2029. Income needs - 40k net initially,…

Should a full refund include delivery costs?
I bought a laptop which failed 4 months into a 12 month warranty. Long story short I ended up sending a right to reject letter as they had it for way more than a reasonable amount of time. They said 10 working days and as of yesterday they have had it for 32 days with no updates and I have been without it since it broke 2…

Plumber charging £225 for blocked toilet
we told our landlord the toilet was blocked so he called a plumber who is charging £225. There was a large lump of toilet roll stuck in the toilet and excrement. We have received another quote of £150 + VAT. Are we liable to pay the whole £225? We didn’t choose the plumber nor did our landlord try to minimise costs by…

Builder charging for patio and steps
We've just had an extension built and the builders smashed up the patio and steps to the garden when they brought the machinery in to dig the footings. They are now asking for £1100 to relay the patio and steps. Are they correct in charging for this or should they put the garden back as it was at their own cost?

Tax code for SIPP withdrawal
I just made my first crystallised SIPP withdrawal (I made a PCLS one earlier) of £13,700 but only received £9156.80. On a tax code of 1257LX that seems to make sense, albeit that my online HMRC account shows estimated tax for the year of £226. My question is whether every SIPP withdrawal will be taxed like this, and if not…

Blocked from switching suppliers due to OVO back-billing dispute – Ombudsman ruled in my favour
I’m looking for advice on a deadlock with OVO Energy regarding a back-billing issue that is preventing me from switching to a cheaper supplier. The Situation: The Issue: OVO failed to bill me for gas for over 12 months. They eventually issued a catch-up bill for over £2,000. Ombudsman Ruling: The Energy Ombudsman ruled in…

Ryanair - No public transport due to late arrival - Compensation?
My daughter flew from Barcelona to Stansted on flight FR8217 on 16th April. Scheduled departure 20:05, actual departure 23:14 Scheduled arrival 21:30, actual arrival 00:00 When she landed, all the public transport back into London had ceased operating so she had to take a cab back home, as did quite a few others on the…

Hi all, I'd love any thoughts and feedback from the wise folks on this forum on the solar + battery proposals we've had from a local installer. Parking Charge - Britannia Parking
Hi, Can't believe I'm back here with another PCN to Keeper this time from Britannia Parking. I just have a quick question: This is for a carpark in Glastonbury where we bought a ticket from a machine but were approx 1/2hr late returning to the car. My question though relates to the timing on receipt of this PCN. The date…

IHT 403 - Gifts out of income where husband / wife income is combined
Although I do not foresee either myself or wife actually bothering the £325k threshold, I am thinking of creating records to support the probate / IHT 403 process on the death of either myself or wife, in the main to reduce the burden on our children who will be executors. We pass money on to our kids on a regular basis -…

How are people actually calculating their home base load?
I’ve been looking into plug-in solar recently, but before jumping in I want to properly understand my base load and how much I could realistically offset. What I’m trying to figure out is what methods or apps people are using to calculate their base load accurately. I’m aware it’s basically your constant usage like fridge,…
