Morning @ScarletRibbons Morning all
Well my little jaunt away did me no good at all. Someone I came across on my travels has given me a horrible cough and temperature and I feel like a limp rag this morning!
I might do some baking later if I feel a bit better but i might, also, take a COVID test too just in case. I'm due my flu jab on Wednesday so would rather be safe than sorry!
Hope everyone has a good day x

Morning again, sorry to read that you're not well Chrisca. Hope it's not this American covid I've been reading about, or any covid for that matter.
It's sunny here, a nice autumn morning. The leaves are falling fast now.
We enjoyed our little holiday in the Lakes, the weather couldn't have been better.
Now back to reality! It's nice to be home though. Granddaughter is here, she's spending more time here, she says it's ' nice and peaceful'! I suppose it's more peaceful because her younger brother is not here to fight with! Their parents probably find it more peaceful as well. It's good to see her though.
The garden is a sorry sight, it's full of dead leaves from the trees over the road.
I must go out for a bit of shopping today and there's a parcel to pick up from the Post Office. There's washing to do of course, and I'll get back in the old routine.
Hope everyone is all right, take care folks.

Morning all - thanks for the start @ScarletRibbons. How lovely that your GD is happy to spend time with you both, no matter the reason. Something to treasure.
Sorry to hear of your ills @Chrisca50 - I was infected with a really bad cold and cough on my flight to Toronto, it spoiled a lot of my holiday and lingered for weeks afterwards. I hope that you feel better soon and that it's not the dreaded COVID.
@IzzyBee - I had a fleeting thought about changing the bedding and decided to do it tomorrow! Manya-na in action. 😀 I have washed my hair under the kitchen tap so that's enough activity for this morning. My night was disturbed by the movement of a huge number of vehicles going somewhere for a night shoot and then returning at 3.00a.m. I hold onto the notion of it being good for the local economy and the wider area and will soon be over, though I have heard rumours of it going on until the new year. Patience. Is. A. Virtue.
My lovely nephew spent a long time on the phone with me yesterday. He was setting me up with a VPN, I tried a few times on my own as it really is a simple process once all the details are known. However, the details he gave me were wrong in two instances and then I missed out a couple of dots here and there. We made it eventually and it's all working now.
The other day I managed, in a moment of fog, to permanently delete my entire 'sent' folder of email. Big shock, big horror. Then I found out that BT don't keep anything at all which has been deleted. Now I'm in acceptance mode. Nephew reckons it's for the best, haven't accepted that yet.
I watched Traitors last night though muted a lot of the chat which is rather boring (for me). And the music doesn't half get my heart rate pounding which is not what I want or need. Then I caught up with Taskmaster which is much more gentle on the nerves and higher in the joy stakes.
Lunch will be one of the Indian meals I recently bought and stashed, I'm looking forward to it. I'm not known for seeking out Indian food, I'm more inclined towards Chinese or Italian, so this is part of me expanding my world just as I feel it starting to close in.
I'm still waiting for the new locking wheel nut thing so am being careful about driving too far as the slow puncture on my mind. The local garage mechanic just sighs when he sees me now. 😀 They aren't allowed to take payment for the tyre pressure check though I try to press something on him for the biscuit tin, especially as I'm in so often.
Enough waffling about nonsense, I hope that everyone has a good Saturday, or at least not an awful one. Hugs to poorlies and those looking after them. xx

Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. A lovely start here too with blue sky and sunshine which is due to last all day.
A flying visit this morning as DS is picking me up for our regular Sainsbobs jaunt. I have put an assortment of veg on my list this time as I am thinking soup season will soon be here. Then youngest DGD is coming at lunchtime after her morning coaching the little ones at gymnastics.
DD had a setback yesterday, just as I thought everything was going so well after the lumpectomy. She woke up feeling dreadful, and her breast was swollen, very painful and wound leaking badly. She rang the breast clinic and the breast nurse suggested getting an urgent appointment with her GP. Miraculously she was told to go down asap. Saw a nurse who summoned a doctor who gave her a week's course of antibiotics and they dressed the wound. It's still leaking this morning and the dressing soaked so her DP has been dispatched to buy some more. Although she says she does feel better than yesterday. There's always something to worry about.
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for our poorlies and sad. CHRISCA I hope you soon feel better and it's not the new strain of Covid that seems to be doing the rounds. Take care all, be safe x.

Morning all from a soggy Mehefinland
it seems an age since I popped in ( it is lol!) so a quickish update from the world of Mehefin.
Barn Dance went really well I may have already said!
Been trundling around the country collecting various bits of new to me/us furniture, and dropping off piles of china to auction houses - I am NO Lovejoy but I can see where people get the buzz from attending auctions, or finding bargains etc. We picked up a huge collection of Royal Worcester Evesham stuff the other day for £40 plus fees. One item alone ( a big tureen)is selling at £60+ I suspect some of this will be moved on - I mean;who needs 20 dinner plates!!
The chucks are settling into their new home at last - just waiting for the first eggs. Apparently Brahmas are slow developers - tell me about it lol.
We have been subjected to a lot of noise in the last 48 hours. The military had a night-time exercise which had some pretty impressive bangs very late at night ( we were given a few hours warning that there may be some noise!!),and helicopters whizzing around all hours.
Yesterday there was an almighty bang around 10am. It was the next part of the demolition of the old power station. It did not go to plan and there is a big chunk still standing. Much scratching of heads I bet. Saw a video on line and the huge black cloud of dust was extremely impressive. Apparently it was the old boilers being brought down- soot or coal dust I wonder. Just glad I wasn't any where near it.
Today is a beach litter pick and then off to a concert this evening in the Millenium Centre in Cardiff in aid of Velindre Cancer Centre - something I am always happy to support.
Got to dash
Hugs and spoons as always.
Mehefin aka Derek

Morning everyone
Just a quickie from me as I'm off out with little one soon - we're going to Alnwick Gardens 25th birthday celebrations and will, to little ones great excitement, stay overnight as there are light shows and fireworks when it gets dark. It's forecast to be sunny so hopefully it will be a good day, DD will pick us up tomorrow and we'll go for Sunday lunch on our way home.
Hope everyone has a good weekend x

Hi all
A slow day today, not least because I have a sore eye (ointment from the pharmacist collected!).
Bdog had to have six teeth removed - that was a shock. He was very disoriented last night but much better today - remarkable recovery powers cos I think I'd be in bed for a week after that! DM is at hospital having a blood transfusion and I've had my flu jab and DF is just going to have his (plus covid). I think that's more than enough medical stuff for the weekend.
Best wishes to all
