Suitcase Wheel Replacement .. has anybody tried it ?

Our suitcase has just lost a wheel, so my wife's first thought was .. we need a new case.

My idea was to see if the wheel could be replaced.

Online (YT) there are a few videos which make it look pretty easy and certainly worth doing.

I took off the plastic baseplate, which holds the wheel, but all the replacements online look pretty similar. My plate has a ref. 3 and is from a Dune case.

Anybody here with better eyesight maybe. .. could they point me in the right direction for a sparte please

thank you

I tried this but couldn't find a matching spare for my case. I ended up buying 4 new wheels and fitting them all. Still much cheaper than a new case, and it looks pretty good I think.

On a serious note, I ended up using these guys - really helpful and found the right generic wheel for me:

Well done on seeking to repair rather than replace.

We have a two wheeled suitcase, the drag type, and managed to find new wheels on ebay. The same suitcase the retractable handle was damaged (bent) in flight. I managed to find a small sticker on the mechanism, found the company who made them online. They ended up making a made to measure free replacement for me which they sent entirely free of all charge from Vietnam. The kindness of strangers. We make sure an external strap covers the handle when we use it now to deter baggage handlers from doing the same again.

Did you buy them from Carlos Fandango?

    These ones look pretty similar

Edit to add, I've replaced wheels on a couple of cases in the past. Very moneysaving and no issues.

    Thanks

I saw this before and thought the first one was pretty similar although not exact.

I've emailed Dune to see if they can help, but if not, I'll take a punt and order those two wheels on Amazon.

I have removed the actual wheel so could even order 4 replacement wheels. Trouble is, it would probably be best to replace all 4 wheels at the same time. Hacksawing through the existing axle took a fair bit of time

Don't hold your breath. We contacted the manufacturer of our suitcase (Roxy) when we had a bent handle, who said they don't stock/sell spares.

I contacted Amazon (actually HMK International) who asked me to send photographs.

I did so and they suggested the GW149, but added if it doesn't work they would refund me.

That's what I call brilliant customer service

UPDATE ! The wheels fitted perfectly
