Clean Drawers!
This is not a comment on my underthings, but the fact that at long last I have cleaned out my food drawers. Two things accelerated this project. First, a few weeks ago found evidence of moth in some bread flour. This comes from a mill local to my parents. Mercifully I haven't found any sign of them in the actual drawer.…

O/S Daily Tuesday 28th May 2024
Good morning, it's sunny here! Yesterday wasn't too bad after some showers. We didn't go out because the weather seemed so uncertain, but pottered on at home. Your cough sounds bad Gers, I'd thought it was going away. Bit of a cheek from your cousin, expecting you to travel to Germany when they didn't remember your…

O/S Daily Bank Holiday Monday 27th May 2024
Good morning, it's sunny here but it's going to rain apparently. Yesterday was the same, this constant rain is a bit depressing. Not a lot to report, I don't know if we'll go anywhere today. Hope everyone is ok and has a good day, take care folks.

Weekly Flylady Thread 20 May 2024
Welcome to the weekly Flylady Thread. What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole…

Weekly Flylady Thread 13 May 2024
Welcome
to the weekly Flylady Thread. We
often see new flyers (gents welcome!) around this time of year so please don't
worry if you feel you cannot keep up. Similarly if your house has been
neglected it won't be turned around in a day - but if you stay you will get
into some good habits which do help! Happy flying. What…

O/S Daily Sunday 26th May 2024
Good morning, it's not a bad morning here, bright, but it has rained. It'll be a quiet day here, Dh will be out most of the day at an event connected with his hobby, and I've got plenty to do.. I must go shopping, I was going to go yesterday and didn't. Florence, you certainly work hard for the SA.. Hope everyone has a…

What's the oldest item of clothing/footwear you still wear?
There was a great thread on this board from 2007: What is your oldest item of clothing? It kicks off with a 40-year-old anorak and a 55-year-old suede jacket. I'd love to know if it's still common to own clothes that last for decades. Please let me know, therefore, what clothing/shoes you've kept in use for the longest?

O/S Daily Saturday 25th May 2024
Good morning, it's a fine start here. Yesterday turned into a lovely warm day, it was really nice. I visited my old friend and we had a good afternoon sitting in her conservatory chatting, it was so pleasant. The decorating is going well, one room is practically done, I just have to put stuff back in the bookcase. I have a…

O/S Daily Friday 24th May 2024
Good morning, it's a bit of an uncertain start weatherwise, I wouldn't be surprised if it rained. We weren't out yesterday, just kept going with the decorating. Rosy, that bus inspector was horrible, I think he was showing off in front of a bus full of people but it seems to have backfired on him. I'm glad people spoke up…

Packed lunch options
When I started working I used to take a cheese sandwich for lunch. The problem was the short life of both the bread and cheese meant I'd never get through it all before it went off plus I got sick of eating the same thing for lunch everyday. I then decided to stop packed lunches and just buy something out, more expensive…

Saving Money With Walkie Talkies
Husband bought us walkie talkies. They have a 5 mile radius so when he is out and about in the town centre or supermarket, we will be able to talk to each other. Useful too when he is in the garden or in his study. I won't have to shout or phone. Only cost is for charging. We've tried them in the house and a few streets…

Good morning, it's a grey start here but might improve I suppose. I've been awake for a long time, worrying about this and that, but finally gave in and came downstairs. Glad you had family time with your nephew Gers, and were able to help him. Sounds as if you are having plenty of family time as well TA, enjoy! Nanny,…

Ninja CREAMi Breeze Ice Cream & Frozen Dessert Maker
Posting here as us OSers are the most likely to make HM ice cream. Anyone who has seen the deals to be had on the main site will have seen this one. The reason I am going down the HM route is because I love ice cream but the stuff in the shops is ultra-processed and really is full of rubbish. I would rather get away with a…
