Morning, it's a frosty start here, the pavements look lethal, so won't be going out till it thaws a bit
Hope Gers is ok.
Sorry to hear you're a bit down Mehefin, it's understandable.
Take care folks.

Good morning Scarlet, thanks for starting us.
Just getting light but it has been raining, another storm to look forward to later today.
We had a lovely time at dgd's birthday bash, met some of her friends from school. How is it 13 year olds are so grown up nowadays I'm sure I wasn't, although if my parents were still here they would say differently! Really made me feel my age though.
Back to reality today, roast pork for dinner, no other plans, will see what the weather's doing.
Mehefin, sorry to hear you're feeling down, songs can bring back lots of memories.
Hope Gers is safe.
Have a good day all, hugs to all who need them. Take care

Morning all from soggy Glasgow. Thanks for starting us off @Scarlet.I'm safe and warm with my friend Alan as I decamped from home yesterday morning. As the storm raged on Friday power was lost over an extensive area of the coast line. The nearest town was still fine, seems they're on a different line. Once darkness came I went to bed where I eventually fell asleep wearing far more layers of clothing and blanketing than normal. At that point the estimated time for reconnection was 10pm that night. Come 10p.m. the reconnection estimate had moved to 5.00p.m. on Monday night. 😱 So, I packed a wee bag and left!My journey started well, one large fallen tree had been partially carved into a tunnel for cars to drive through. Within 200 yards the next fallen tree was huge and completely blocked the single track. That meant doing what felt like a 100 point turn to go round the other way. Got fuel and coffee at the garage (avoided the temptation of bacon rolls), filled the windscreen water tank and set off south. Despite the debris and fallen trees the drive was fine. Lots of men with heavy duty chainsaws and diggers to clear the vast amounts of seaweed on shoreline roads. I called into the lovely @Camelot's home for a cheery chat and hot coffee - thanks to her for both. (I resisted the temptation of fresh out of the oven Twinkie's!).I hope that everyone survived OK. There'll be fences, roofs, garden furniture, bins and so on unnaturally redistributed, but I hope that you're all safe and warm. Hugs all around.13

Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. I too am worrying about Gers as it says Argyll was the worst hit area in Scotland. Fingers crossed it's just an outage for her which is soon fixed.
I have an overnight guest here! Youngest DGD invited herself for tea and a sleepover yesterday. She is still in bed but I hope she soon surfaces as I have shopping at 10 a.m. with DS and she needs to be fed and watered by then as she is getting picked up for Renaissance in Leeds about 11.30 and I want to see her sorted in case I am not back - though at the speed I have to go round the sm I should be!
After DD getting me the 2 gammon joints t'other day I thought I had better cook the one I already I had in the freezer as I felt to be stockpiling them! This is a bigger one which I never cooked over Christmas (thanks to the lurgy!) so I think a lot of it will need to be sliced up and put back in the freezer as I'll never manage to eat it allit all in the next few days. The stock will be used tomorrow for making Pea and Ham soup.
We looked for the alignment of the planets last night but it was far too cold to be stood outside so we looked through the windows instead. Sadly I only saw Venus and Mars but DGD who has far better eyesight than me says she saw Saturn as well.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad or lonely. Take care all, stay safe xx

I do hope that all those who weathered the storm are ok.Yesterday was bright and sunny. Loveiy 80th birthday lunch at a friend’s house, only 8 of us - eating at lunchtime just knocks me out for the rest of the day though so I thing got some in the evening,
Today is supposed to be wet and windy!
Having a Zoom with friends later to finalise some plans for a holiday next week.Lots of tidying up and chores to catch up with plus maybe some sewing.Take care all

Morning All
Thanks for the start Scarlet, best to stay in until it thaws a bit.
It looks quite nice out but a bit chilly, may put the washing out for a while once it's done.
I saw Gers yesterday, she called in on her way to Glasgow to stay with friends. Good chat over a coffee.
Housework all done yesterday and I started knitting a cardigan for the little one, may take it to do on the train on Friday. Also sorted out my undies drawer, I seem to have more pants than M&S!
I really must do some shopping today, I didn't go out yesterday as the showers were horrid and I was nice and cosy inside.
Hope you're feeling better this morning Mehefin.
Happy Birthday to your DGD Remmie.
How's your little one doing dp1?
Have a safe and peaceful Sunday, take care. XX12 -
Good morning
I still feel tired but got up anyway. Stayed out for few drinks yesterday but head feels ok this morning
Was surprised to see some ice/frost when I went out to the recycling bin a few minutes ago.
I've put a couple of waffles and chicken dippers into cook for my breakfast closest thing ive got to a ''hangover'' breakfast- and to balance that out, some soup in slow cooker for lunch.
Nothing exciting planned for today. Do need to change my sheet and duvet cover but do that later when I have more energy.
Kindle book- no reason I can't finish that today but aside from that just potter about. Will watch Call the Midwife tonight as well and maybe one or two blue bloods during the afternoon
I hope you have a nice Sunday and special wave to those of you with concerns on your mind11 -
Morning all.
Pleased to see Gers is safe but what a journey to get down there.
My beef stew was cooking for almost 4 hours yesterday before we decamped down the M1 and reheated it for the party. There's a bit left in the pot this morning but that will have to be binned as it's travelled a bit too much. No breakfast for me today but I'll have a second cup of tea soon.
Just watching the Men's Final in the Australian Open Tennis on tv so will stay sitting here for a while.10 -
Morning everyone
There's a hard frost here this morning but it's nice and calm, though apparently the wind will be back later!
Went into town yesterday and had my hair cut and coloured, it looks so much better, I'm really pleased with it. I passed the time reading my book, so it went quite quickly. Found a lovely pine mirror in one of the charity shops before I came home, it will sit nicely on my new chest of drawers.
Spent most of the rest of the afternoon absorbed in my book and had a nice chat with eldest DD in Germany. Oh and my guide book for Marrakech came, so I spent some time with it, I love a guide book!
Camelot - thanks for asking after little one, she is still more tired than she should be, considering she's sleeping so long at night, though she is eating a bit more. DD wanted to get her off her feed over the weekend, so she could go back to school tomorrow, but her sugars keep dipping too low when she tries. I wouldn't be surprised if they're at the RVI this week.
Gers - good plan going to stay with your friend.
Must make a move, as I'm going down to mam and dads . Hope everyone has a good day x10
