Nissan
A bit of a long story, but Ill keep it as short as I can. My 3 month old Nissan juke stopped working completely unresponsive while on holiday. RAC came out and couldn't find the fault and told me the car would be towed to my nearest dealership. I scrambled to take the train home which was over 100 miles away and got a call…

PCP Plan - Best Way Forward
I want to be in a position where I can continually hand a car back after 3-4 years instead of keeping a car and ultimately forking out circa 2k every year in MOTs and Repairs when I have previously tried to keep hold of a car for 5-10 years. What advice would you have regarding PCP's? Is it best to put the maximum deposit…

Car insurance for inherited cars now owned by a non-driver
My stepfather has recently passed away and left two cars which will go to my mother once probate has completed (I'm an executor). She doesn't drive (and no longer has a licence) but wants to keep the cars, one of which is a classic, for the moment. I'm trying to work out the best way to handle the insurance aspect of this.…

Cancellation Fee for a policy I didn't renew (Admiral)
Hi everyone I've recently switched car insurance from Admiral to LV. I didn't make any attempt to contact Admiral about this and I'm assuming the policy just renewed automatically. Now they're asking for £115 - is there anything legally I can in order to not pay this? I already hate insurance companies so the idea of…

Premium increase following non-fault accident
My son's car was just been written off by Admiral following a non-fault accident (he was stationery when the 3rd party swerved across the road and hit him head-on. The 3rd party has admitted full liability). Luckily he's find and no injuries However, with my experience of Admiral, despite it being a non-fault accident and…

Car leasing contract issues around data breaches
Evening all. My wife leased a new car two years ago. During the initial paperwork we were supplied a reg number that was changed a few days later. It seems the lease company wrongly recorded this car as hers too by mistake. We're not being charged for it, but somewhere on their system it's recorded as hers. The correct car…

Can you over a PCP and effectively have no payments until the GMFV is due?
Example. Car is 20k Deposit 5k 10k over 48 months GMFV 5k Effectively over pay by 9k, have 1k on monthly payments over 48 months and know full well I have the option of returning the car or keeping it. Will this reduce interest to hardly anything and payments which are minimal monthly amounts over 48 months?

Hello, I have had an offer accepted on a car a few hundred miles away which I was going to pick up on Monday. But on showing the online photos to a few of my friends, they are saying it's had a respray. I asked the seller, who replied "No definitely not been sprayed must be a reflection". Can you look and share your views…

Paid a deposit, and waiting to go over details, transfer funds and choose options. 2 questions :1) Are there better places to get a warranty than from the dealer? Theirs seems…

BW Legal - bogus car hire allegation
I've received a letter today from BW Legal which is demanding payment for car hire in Peterborough in 2020. They have previously attempted to obtain money from me with the same wording, which resulted in a formal complaint and what I thought was the end of the matter, but they continue to harass me. I have never hired a…

Electric Cars: Are they Really Worth it? (Ch5)
I watched Channel 5's latest EV bashing documentary today. There were quite a few things that I had "issues" with, but by far the worst was their sums. They took two identical fully charged Kia somethings (they all look the same to me) and sent them on a 130 mile trip. Speedy Sam drove like he stole it and got home with…

Leaving dashcam wiring when return car at end of PCP?
I'm returning my car soon when the PCP ends. I have front and rear Nextbase dashcams that were hardwired by Nextbase mobile fitters. A dealer advised me to remove the two dashcams but leave the wiring as this would be cheaper than getting a mobile fitter. I'm wondering if I will be charged if I leave the wiring. I'd be…

Due diligence, used car £18.5k, consumer protection?
Hi, Would really appreciate thoughts / warnings please Yesterday was approved for a personal loan for 12k @ 5.9% over 72 months (not car finance), making up the rest with savings. Mentioning the amount & rate as thought this would be way cheaper than car finance. Money should be through later this week. Viewed / test drove…
