What are the facts about 'wet cam belts', Vauxhall and others?
Hi. I'm considering buying a 2020 Grandland X, 1.2, 24K miles, FSH. I am aware of the horror stories regarding the 'wet cam belt' design in these engines, which is also used in various Peugeot and Citroen models, possibly others. It seems pretty clear that there is an 'issue', with early 'wet' cam belts - say 2017-2019…

New Car Registration by Dealer
Good evening, We ordered a new Kia in early December last year. Estimated delivery date was end Feb. Production delays meant it didn't reach the UK port of entry until 31 March. There have been further delays in the PDI process and transportation to the dealer. I was advised it would reach the dealer last week. The dealer…

AA. Real down cover - can I cancel to get a better deal
I’m Currently with the AA for break down cover. My renewal price came through and was extortionate. I’ve called them and they’ve reduced it to £140. New members can get the same cover for just under +£90. I said I’ll just cancel and take out our new joint cover in the other persons name - the lady said I can’t do that and…

RAC 3rd Party Mechanic Damaged Car
A few weeks ago I had a flat tyre. I called the RAC who sent out a local mobile tyre fitter who changed the tyre. I then booked the car in at my local tyre fitter for a wheel realignment. I then get a phone call from them saying they haven't removed the hub because the bolt has been cross threaded - almost certainly…

Blackwall Tunnel £4 Charge for off peak time.
I accidently took a wrong turn today and ended up going through the blackwall tunnel. This was after 10am so I presumed I would pay £1.50 off peak price, but when I went online to pay it is only giving me the choice of paying £4. Is this correct or some sort of error?

unidentified car part
Does anyone know what this is? It fell off the bottom of my 2007 Skoda Roomster. It is quite corroded...there is embossed writing on it which says:VWAGCZ KR1600 120 AC01 07-> Still seems to run OK after this falling off but it would help me to have an idea of what has gone wrong. I am not a car person. Thank you.

Audi 12 year perforation warranty
I have a 4 year old Q2 with bubbling paint on the bonnet. An independent bodyshop has said it's corrosion. Audi won't fix it under their warranty saying it's not covered as the 3 year warranty has finished and the 12 year warranty is rust through only. Any advice where I go next as its a £1k plus fix on a £20k car. Thanks.

2011 Hyundai i10 Wipers Sticking
The wipers on my Hyundai i10 are starting to seize and sometimes stop altogether if the windscreen gets dry when using the washer, I haven't driven in the rain for a few weeks. I have sprayed the bottom of the arms with WD40 and they are a bit better but I cannot see how to access the linkage to properly lubricate it. I…

Why does DVLA still send out refund cheques??
I can't believe in this day and age, a massive Government department like the DVLA sends cheques out instead of processing refunds on your card (if that's how you paid originally). Very frustrating I'm sure you'll agree.

County court claim after car accident
Hello, Looking for a bit of advice please In 2023 myself and another driver had a bump in a car park. Neither of us admitted liability, I did not need to claim as there was no damage but let my insurance know of the incident. The other party however did claim. When I last spoke to my insurance they said that this was…

Who do you use for your Family Breakdown Cover (RAC Not good experience)
Hi all Who do you use for your family breakdown cover! We have 5 Cars in our house and we love to have peace of mind that the ‘kids’ cars are covered. After all, teens being teens, breakdown cover planning wouldn’t be their priority. We’ve been with RAC five years with only 1 call out over the whole family. However, last…

Private road with shared access issue.
Morning all, I own a property with an access road attached that allows three other houses right of access to their properties behind mine. I came in today to find my drive wall had been knocked down by what I believe was an Amazon delivery van (although I can’t be certain of this as no camera footage of the area or…

Is this used car in good condition?
I am buying my first used (2018) car, but I dont know anything about cars and have nobody that can help me. I felt secure buying from a dealership, but something made me feel uneasy about it as they suddenly said another buyer was interested in buying if I didnt. I walked away, but they have now called and said its…

PCP Voluntary Termination
Hi all, I took out a PCP contract for 4 year duration / 10,000 miles a year, just over three years ago. PCP Finance: Low deposit or high deposit, which is the most sensible?
A couple of years ago, I "bought" a new MG4 on a PCP finance deal. I was a bit of a smug git when EVs suddenly depreciated more than expected last year, as my PCP "guaranteed final value" would likely be £2-3K more than the car was going to be worth at the end of the deal.... ... but then I got rear-ended by a bus a couple…

Peugeot Partner Tepee semi-automatic transmission problems
Hi, I've had trouble with transmission on my diesel semi-automatic 2016 Peugeot Partner Tepee since I bought it in 2022. First the pipe work needed replacing. Then the pump and now the robot arm. Does anyone have any experience or advice with this type of transmission gear box?
