Newish Jeep Renegade needs new engine
Some advice please as I really don't know what to do. My Jeep Renegade 4xe is approx 4.5 years old with 34k on the clock. It broke down a couple of weeks ago, the RAC man said he thought it was a cam gear failure. The garage we took it to says that a bolt has come off the bottom pulley(?) and the valves have lost timing,…

Mazda 2016 1.6 diesel issues
Hi. This is a long on complex issue. I purchased a 2016 1.6 Mazda Diesel in October 2023, it has a DPF light on when viewing the car but I was assured this was because it had stood idle for several months but I was assured it would be sorted before collection before if I went ahead with the purchase. This should have been…

Here’s a conundrum about which I will be grateful for advice & opinions please. We drove our UK vehicle to Italy and left it there whilst undertaking a 6 week holiday to Australia, flying via Doha on Qatar Airways. Personal Lease Insurance
I have a new car ordered under a personal lease agreement with Kia. 2 issues seems to be causing me a headache for obtaining insurance: In the T&Cs it states… "You will also have to ensure we are named as owner and loss payee under the insurance policy"…Insurance comparision websites dont seem to draw out this point, even…

Car Update!
When I first started using this forum a year ago I said I was doing lessons and saving for a car. Happy to say since a month ago I have my car!! I went for the VW Polo Match. Also managed to bargain them down slightly at the dealer on my monthly cost so that's always a plus. I'm still taking lessons but not as frequently…

One Protect Insurance
Has anyone had experience of this insurance company? I have made a claim on my insurance with them for damage to my car. Totally my fault but they have agreed it can be repaired by their 'accident management company' have just told me they will only pay £1750 to have it repaired. My local (and very good) garage has…

Diesel car, worth considering?
My car has been written off (not really salvageable) and I am still waiting to hear from the insurer. I was looking at cars and spotted a diesel car (2016) at a good price and checking all of my boxes (i.e. cheap to run, low road tax, reasonable mileage), but I wonder if it is wise. For example, at the moment it is ulez…

Its that time to renew breakdown cover, my current provider doesn't cover older cars and my car now falls into that bracket so time to change. Who would you recommend? It needs to be personal cover that covers cars, vans and motorbikes.

some basic questions regarding hybrid cars
We are looking at replacing our existing car with either a full EV or possibly a hybrid model. The operation of a full EV is pretty easy to understand but I have a few questions about hybrids please. I understand the principle that you have a battery driven electric motor and also an ice engine that cuts in to recharge the…

Why is it not a MOT requirement to have vehicle tax?
Not sure about where you live but around here there's an absolute ton of vehicles on the road with no tax. Today I saw a van come by my work & you get a vibe for it, you can spot it a mile off. 'checkatrade' phone numbers on the side tend to be a giveaway. More often than not they're missing something. So it was guess what…
