RAC shambles
Broke down 9pm Friday night. Someone got to me 25 hours later…… Plenty of promises and no-shows. I had to uber to my hotel first night after waiting 7 hours, then went back 10am next morning (and no-one showed up). In total have spent 15 hours waiting in a layby in the sun, no access to food/water (I had some), no access…

RAV4 vs Corolla Touring (both 2021)
Hi All, I'm struggling to decide between a RAV4 or Corolla Touring Sports (both hybrid, say 2021). I generally buy 12+ year old cars and run them until they die, so this is the first time I am buying a relatively newer used car. I almost pulled the trigger on RAV4 but now I'm confused. The reason is that I do a 100-mile…

Turning a 12v permanent socket to a switched live socket.
Trying to do more digging on how to do this. I don't learn too well with text on a screen but can follow a video better. I found a write up & it lost me but then I found a video & once I saw it I think it's basically the same thing. So I get that you get 2 piggy backs, you expose the wiring of one & crimp in to the other.…

How to get a Motor Ombudsman Decision
My clutch went when my car was just one year old and had done just 12,000 miles. My local Skoda dealer said it was wear and tear so was not covered by warranty. I pointed out that I normally keep my cars until around 80,000 miles and have never previously had a clutch fail. Therefore, in my view, the clutch must have been…

Insurance accident via third party major issues
Hi everyone, Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I’m looking for some advice as I’m not sure where I stand legally. About a year ago, my van was damaged by a forklift while goods were being loaded. The business verbally accepted responsibility at the time, and the claim was passed to their public liability insurer.…

New ev driver - basic question re public charging.
We've recently bought a new ev. It's really great but being dinosaurs I don't understand how to pay for public charging. Our home charger will be installed soon but thinking of long trips. We've looked at public chargers in our town but you can pay with a debit/credit card at only 1 of 6 that we looked at. There seems to…

Declarable Modifiation or not ?
I own a plain white bog standard Ford Mondeo Estate. Would having vinyl decals applied and the original ford alloys refurbished a different colour be a "modification" ? AI did this to it and quite like it. I know can just ring and ask but was told its a last resort as it all goes on your "file" even if just a query.

2 week old PCP car fault - advice needed
I am newbie here. I need some advice as I am so confused and upset. I bought a brand new convertible car on a PCP agreement. 2 weeks after I took possession of the vehicle, a fault developed with the mechanism that closes the roof and the roof was unable to lock in. I dropped it off at the dealership and it turns out that…

Hastings Direct demand for location data via their app
Hello all, Can anyone shed any light on the following? As far as I'm aware the policy I bought said nothing about this including in the terms and conditions  Note: my policy is not their telematics type named "Hasting Direct youdrive", it is actually their "top tier" policy called "Hastings Premier"

Finance on a non economic repair
My car failed its MOT, and the repairs required are not financially viable for me. I am in an IVA already and currently signed off work for mental health reasons. I have a 4 year plan with 1 year left on it. In my contract it states I can not scrap or sell the car as I don't actually own it yet. If I choose to hand the car…

Hyundai electric window problem
Hi My 2012 Hyunda i30 Comfort 1.6 estate has an annoying problem with the electric windows. Particularly with the front passenger side. The door switch lowers the window fine but doesn't raise it. The driver's side master switch is also faulty. Both near side window switches on the unit only lower the two nearside windows.…

New (to me) car issues - right to reject within 30 days
I'll keep this as simple as I can. Purchased a new to me car less than two weeks ago. Its from a dealership. Didnt take out their extended warranty through a third party. Today it came up with engine system fault on the dashboard and a huge loss of power. Phoned the dealer when I got home. Told to call the warranty company…

Hastings car insurance - do I make a complaint to the financial ombudsman?
Hello, Hastings car insurance have just closed my complaint and I’m wondering whether it’s worth taking it to the financial ombudsmen. My complaint arose due to them charging me an extra £60 after changing my marital status to married and changing my name after already paying for my policy in full. The timeline of events…

Tyre / wheel issue
Hi all, my MOT is due in a few months and this is the current condition of my front left wheel and tyre (small cut). It looks like it needs addressing sooner than that. But what would cause the scrapes across the wheel - mounting kerbs? This is the only wheel and tyre like this. Thanks.

Renew Mazda Assist / Warranty?
My Mazda 2 Hybrid is almost 3 years old and the warranty is about to expire. I have been quoted £363 to renew the warranty plus Mazda Assist, or £75 to renew just Mazda Assist. I reckon I am most likely to need Mazda Assist for a puncture, given the state of the roads. In fact that is the only time I have needed it so far.…

Appalling Customer Service from Ford UK
We bought a 2017 plate Ford Galaxy in May 2019 with 12,500 miles on the clock from Motorline direct in Leicester. In July 2019 (2 months after buying the car) it broke down when we were in Belgium. Ford Ghent replace 1 fuel injector but couldn't replace a 2nd faulty injector. The car was repatriated to Sleaford Ford where…
