Motor insurance premiums up 30%?
I insured my ancient Volvo last year with Churchill for £250. This year it is due to automatically renew at £326. Nothing has changed. The car is nearly 20 years old, and worth say £3k. Have premiums risen by 30% generally? If not, is that rather a cheeky rise, and I need to go through the whole tiresome process of…

Car or van?
After reading through a thread from someone who seems to be clutching at straws about speeding, possibly due to not realising that a van has lower speed limits than a car, it dawned on me that I have assumed-and driven-my wheelchair accessible vehicle as a car. I’ve done a quick Google (and I will obviously check the log…

Is it normal to be charged a collection fee when cancelling a lease within the 14-day cooling-off pe
Hi everyone, I’m hoping to get some advice or hear from anyone who’s been in a similar situation. I recently signed up to lease a car through LeaseCar UK, which was being financed through ARVAL. When the car was delivered, it had a number of scratches on the bodywork, and as soon as I started it up, a maintenance light…

Incorrect HPI finance markers blocking car sale
I’m going around in circles with VW finance and HPI. I bought a car in 2015, pressure sold finance I didn’t want, so I paid it off in the 14 days cooling off period. All was good until I came to sell the car this year when it was discovered HPI have finance markers on the car held by VW finance. I called VW finance, they…

Car security
I cannot understand why car dealerships can’t be made to provide faraday boxes & pouches as part of the ‘package’ (& at no cost to the buyer) when they sell a keyless car. Sorry if this has been raised before but I can’t find this suggestion on any thread.

EV pay per mile - disabled drivers
In all fairness - if PPM is implemented by the government - they need to give a 100% discount for disabled drivers - in the same way that disabled drivers, on high rate mobility PIP are given free road tax - this additional charge is just an addition to Road Tax ........

Fold down parking barriers
I hope this is the right place for my post. I live on a private estate and unwelcome random car keeps parking in my space months on end and despite putting notices on the car, the notice get ignored and the unwanted car will leave and return on the same day. I am not sure what the solution is to keep these unwanted cars…

Car Lease Nightmare: Accident Repair
Hi all, I have new Skoda Kodiaq (PHEV) on a lease (2025 plate). Overall happy with the car (while I had it!). However, I was involved in a minor accident and the car had to go to a Skoda approved body shop for repair. This is where the first issue happened. My insurance with Direct Line did not cover me for a courtesy car…

Used Car Help - Rust Query
Hey all, I'm currently looking for a new replacement used car after having mine sent to car heaven by a lovely young chap who decided to hit the side of it. I've found one that otherwise ticks all the boxes but noticed some rusting on/around the sills. I spoke to the garage about it and they seem to think it's just surface…

Leather seats & car seat covers
I hate leather seats! But needed a car & the car I got seemed OK at the time so didn't turn it down just based on the seat material. Was considering getting some cloth seat covers. Nothing to do with keeping the seats colder in summer, hotter in winter or anything like that. I just don't like the FEEL of the leather seat…

What's a 'reasonable' length of time for a safety component to last?
My car recently had a failure of its SOS Emergency system. A trip to the main dealer and a £373 bill later and it's all fixed. The component was a back-up aerial, which I assume would be used if the main aerial was damaged in a collision. The part cost was only £5.70, but the rest was diagnostics and fitting. The car is a…

My ev car went back to Lex in September a year early having spent 3 ½ months at Kia gathering dust and bird crap waiting for a new battery. (Which never came) BCA collected the car from Kia late September. Lex agreed to…

Hi. The registered keeper of our car has just received a letter from QDR solicitors about non payment for fuel. It's a petrol filling station we routinely use so entirely possible one of the people with access to the car has made a mistake here and driven away without paying or had problems with payment which wasn't picked…

After a quick search of the forums I see there are a few of these popping up, mine is a very similar story and just looking for some advice on how to handle. 7 weeks ago it’s alleged I visited a Sainsbury’s petrol station and didn’t pay for my fuel. I remember the date fairly well as is the day we went on holiday, but…
