License Application voluntary surrender - medical
I December 24 I had a single episode of cough syncope as a result of a virus that I picked up. That diagnosis means no driving for six months. I surrendered my license voluntarily on the basis that it should make it easier and quicker to get your license back once you have served your six months. I applied 8 weeks before…

Should I share dashcam footage with 3rd party?
The other day another driver clipped the side of my car with their wing mirror while overtaking me on a dual carriageway. Whilst I have front facing dashcam footage, it does not show the actual incident but I do believe it is strong circumstancial evidence, since the knock to my car is audible and so is mine/passengers…

Looking to buy a 996 911 Porsche but not sure which one?
I’ve always wanted one of these having driven one a while back and never quite forgot the way it looked and how to drove. It was a 2004 40th anniversary edition. It felt very engaging and you could almost feel the road even at lower speeds I’m fortunately now in a position to buy one but there are a plethora of 996 models…

Considering an EV on salary sacrifice scheme
I was curious as to what people would do in my position. I bought a 20 reg Dacia Sandero Stepway second hand two years ago - using a mix of savings, trade in and a 0% credit card which I paid off in a year. I’ve probably done about 24000 miles in the car in this time. I’ve had to pay over £1000 in maintenance too…

Shell Recharge issues
A few years ago I bought an EV and a Shell Recharge New Motion home charger unit came as part of the deal. For a number of reasons I sold that EV, so didn't use the charger. I now have another EV, but cannot set up scheduled charging because Shell EV say they cannot recognise the serial number of the charger. I've tried to…

Diesel Car 26k in 7 years
Hi, Im looking for some advice. Im in the market for a BMW 20d X1 auto. Alot of deals I’m finding are cheaper with diesel, but from past experience with diesel cars I’ve had dpf issues and cost me a fair price (both previous cars done over 100k). I’ve seen a deal I like but it’s 2018 plate and only done 26k on the clock,…

Temporary car insurance for an 88 year old
My mum (88) and I are considering swapping cars. My car is smaller and would suit her better. Before doing this, my mum would like to try driving my car. This requires car insurance. Her car insurance doesn't have third party cover for driving another car. My car insurance won't allow addition of an 88-year-old. All the…

Best way to go about buying a 'newer' car?
I'm referring to things like finance, hire purchase & whatever else would get thrown in that band as I have no clue about any of it whatsoever. In the market for 2 cars, which cuts the budget drastically & I'm finding it difficult to get something. Our budget is generally about £2k or has been in the past. I've stretched…

Breakdown Cover
Another great win - got my Green Flag renewal docs which quoted me a price of £63.45 (last year I paid £50.76). On checking online I saw that the same cover for a new customer this year was £46.38 so I contacted GF and they agreed to that amount. A saving of £17 and cheaper than last year's price! That is a win!

Inclusion Of Car Tax In EV PCH
Just wondering if anybody has been mislead by main dealers on whether Car Tax is included within PCH agreements on EV’s? Took delivery of Kia EV3 in January and Kia dealer confirmed both in writing and verbally that car tax would be included within PCH agreement for the full 4 year term. Now find out it is not

VW start button not working properly - is this covered by VW all in plan?
Hi, I have a 2019 Tiguan which I bought last year. I also took out the VW all in plan which also covers repairs that are not wear and tear. I’ve never had to claim on it but for months now the start engine button hasn’t worked properly. I have to press it multiple times to start/shut off the engine. I’ve got the car booked…

Can I find previous owners details?
Hi, I purchased a used EV from local dealership just over 6 months ago. The car has had charging issues for the last few months, I attribuated this to my home charger. Never really got to the bottom of it as it was a random fault that normally fixed itself on the 2nd or 3rd charging attempt. After a lot of testing, a lot…

I'm Confused - Is This Hire Purchase Or PCP?
I have an agreement with Renault Finance which says that it is a "Hire Purchase Agreement regulated by the Consumer Credit Act 1974". However, the 49 month payment period consists of 47 monthly payments of £230.63, one payment of £230.07, followed by 1 Final Repayment of £3786.72. It was my understanding that hire purchase…

Hi everyone, Has anyone rented their car out using things like Hiya (sort of airbnb for cars i guess)? We're thinking about it but did have some questions. Does it affect your insurance? Enterprise Van Write off Charges after Roof Damage
In April, my Partner and I hired a Van from Enterprise for me to move my stuff. On collecting the van we were asked if we'd like to take out the additional Damage Waiver for £35 so we did for peace of mind. On arrival at mine, we drove through the arch fine but whilst looking in the mirrors, the front of the van hit a…
