Speed Awareness Course Costs 2025

Just in case this helps anyone else out, I checked the online/virtual course prices for AA Drivetech - £96.20, TTC - £100, Safer Essex - £98 and HCC - £98.  It’s possible that you might get a cheaper quote if you book early but even so, I imagine Drivetech would most likely still be cheapest of these four providers.  I spent ages trying to find this out so I wanted to share this to save others from the same region the same pain.

Not my area of expertise but I thought you simply booked a course locally via NDORS and didn't really have a choice of provider.

Am I wrong?

Or you could save yourself the cost altogether.

You can pick from several locations, or opt for an on-line course. They are quite draconian and failure with an on-line course can result from an IT glitch, someone coming into the room, going to answer the door, etc.
Many save the travel costs by opting for the on-line course, but you need to take care to not suffer from any disruption for the duration!

How? It's either take the course or pay the £100 fine. Cheapest I can see is £82

How do you think you would avoid a fine for speeding or having to pay for and attend a Speed Awareness course?

This thread relates to the costs of a course when in fact it might have been improved upon if it was suggested to avoid it altogether.

That would be the cheapest option. The courses cost motorists close to £220 million a year and the Police's split is around a third of that.

This figure is rising each year, but that is not necessarily linked to increased course costs. The number taking courses has increased 12% last year.

The knock on effect of this many drivers transgressing the speed limits leads the authorities rightly think their current measures aren't working and increase their detection measures and therefore increase fees and revenue. They will also increase various types of road schemes to slow traffic down.

But if the figure falls, they would presume correctly that the current measures are working and would not be inclined to increase efforts to catch speeding motorist and/or slow traffic further.

We drivers are masters of our own future and the emphasis should be put on reducing the numbers speeding, it is after all completely avoidable. It shouldn't be about the cheapest way to deal with the fact you have been caught.

It wouldn't take much to reverse these figures. If one out of every four caught speeding didn't speed and get caught, the impact would be massive. It wouldn't just slow the increasing trend but turn it back to figures last seen decades ago.

What I have found out a little while back was the people who run these courses were spearheading the campaign for 20mph
speed limits. I wonder why?

Who the people that run the speed awareness courses? No it was all financial.

It was like an accident reported in the local paper some years back, outside a school in a 30mph zone where a bad incident
happened so they made that street AND several streets around the area all 20mph. Lives saved = none.

The police refused to monitor the 20mph area for speeding because the council messed it up and did not do it properly. so
unenforceable. Then you look into the actual event that sparked it.. An unsinsured unlicenced driver was doing 70MPH
past the school at 3pm and failed to stop after the incident.

So who would benefit from the 20mph zone? With these reduced speed limit areas how many accidents happened at or
below the legal limit? Would that be none or none?
