Rejecting a used car within 6 months of purchase
Hi, I am in the process of rejecting a used car that I purchased on 27/02/26 (just under 6 months ago) it is a 21 reg. Multiple warning lights (AWD, hill start assist, collision assist [and a couple of others]) have appeared and after diagnostics I have been told that it will cost £1756 to fix (along with £104 diagnostic fee). I don't believe this is reasonable after less than 6 months usage even taking into account the age of the car.
I understand that the dealership has 1 chance to repair the vehicle however my question is should that be at their cost or mine?
Many thanks

It's at their cost, unless they can prove the faults have appeared since you bought the car. Within 6 months the default assumption is that they were there on purchase.

21 reg car.
What mileage when purchased and now?
Was any scheduled maintenance due within the period since purchase and was this carried out?
Price paid and how paid?
Make and model?
Several lights and £1,750 to repair. What is the actual fault? (It is not uncommon that a single root cause fault results in several lights.)
What outcome do you want? Repair and keep the car or get rid?
If the car is taken back by the supplying dealer you will probably suffer a deduction for the 6 months use you had of the car.

Is this a Land Rover product? All those faults may be down to a cheap brake pedal switch, which isn't a £1700 fix.

What's the actual cause that's been diagnosed?
All of those will come on from something as simple as a failed wheel speed sensor - they're all reliant on the ECUs knowing the actual live speed of all four wheels.
A wheel speed sensor could fail through corrosion, or it could be damage from road debris or a careless mechanic.
You can't just blanket reject a 5yo car after nearly six months because of a single issue. You'll also have a deduction from any refund, if the rejection is accepted, to cover the time and mileage you've used the car for.0
