Current Account Switch
When you switch a current account from one bank to another do I have to have a zero balance in the first, or are funds in the account transferred as well as direct debits?

How long does it take to open a RBS bank account?
Just that really, trying to open an account, got all the way through to the online ID verification thing which it says both parts were passed successfully and that they'll be in touch - just wondering how long it's going to take.

Cooperative bank - delay in showing transfers in?
I have had a broadly rubbish experience with Coop as a bank, so this observation doesn't surprise me. But I've just transferred money into my Co-op account and it's not showing up. Is this a weekend thing, does anyone know?

Nationwide card Authenticator gadget
I recently switched to Nationwide and made an on-line purchase using their debit card and card reader authentication. The site said the transaction failed and to try again. That also failed. Checking on the banking app, despite the “failures” there were two payments made from the account! Anyone else had the same problem?…

Think Money monthly charges
Hi i previously banked with Think Money for 2/3 years and paid a monthly fee of £10. I don’t recall ever being notified of this charge when I first joined and when I queried it, I was told it would improve my credit rating. I have read online about claiming back bank fees and is this something I can do, and has anyone else…

Recommendations for a bank or savings accounts that allow deposits originating from outside the UK
Hi. I'm looking to draw upon the knowledge of anyone browsing these forums who may be a lot more fluent in "how things work" than I seem to be with regard to bank accounts or savings accounts that allow deposits from both UK and non UK sources. The account, be that a normal account or savings account, would need to have…

Recommend a finances planning website/app/chart
I'm trying to plan out a 10 year period of time, that shows current finances, plus additional finances that are coming in 18 months time, and again in 8 years time. And also show interest expected in that time. But also shows a monthly outgoing. Ideally I'd like to show it/plot it in months. Obviously all figures will be…

HSBC Currency Account Exorbitant Fees
Hi all, has anyone else had this issue? I set up a EURO HSBC current account to receive and pay Euros within the EU because their website says they don't charge any fees on these Euro transfers. Today I transferred 10,000 Euros from my HSBC euro account to my FX trading account held with The Currency Cloud (a UK Euro bank…

Santander stopping alerts - why would they do that?
I have a Santander Edge Up Current Account, with all sorts of benefits that Santander shout from the rooftops about. I must admit, in general it is fairly good, IMHO.And one of the things I genuinely find useful is the alerts - not just dull ones that other banks send for every transaction, but alterable ones, like:* When…

Sole Trader Banking using Trading Name
I opened a Sole Trader account with Starling a few months ago - all good and the payment notifications are very useful. However, when my customers are making payments to the account they can now only do this by entering my personal name because of the new account name checking process being rolled out. This is not great…

Run out of banks to switch to
Does anyone know of any bank accounts I can switch to? I've pretty much done all of them since 2021 (I keep a record). I want to get rid of my Barclays Blue Reward accounts as their Rainy Day Saver is dropping and I can get a better rate with Cahoot. I don't use Apple or Sports. If there aren't any bank accounts left, I…

Anyone having problems logging into the RBS app?
Have tried to login to the RBS phone app numerous times today so that I can verify a payment to my MBNA credit card. All I get after selecting the 'Login' button is the revolving timer which sits there for ever. Contacted them via their online chat and even after I'd managed to bypass their useless Cora bot all the human…

Barclays appalling "Customer Service"
I found a message which exactly matched my issue and then lost it!! Both the Barclays app and online have lost all but one of my payee details. First phone call to outsourced Customer Service as the other person said, "Advisor" didn't have a clue, language barrier, and didn't make any notes. Tried to update some details…

Money saving mindset - Finding it difficult to spend
I've had a moneysaving mindset for quite a while and have always agreed with Martin's ethos. I suppose I'm worrying that I'm getting a bit tight and I'd never want to be like that. I'm generous with other people but not so much with myself. I think I should allow myself more pleasures. For example, I was thinking about…
