Postgrad Banking
I've noticed that lots of banks offer great deals to undergraduates or those doing courses of more than 2 years (like 0% overdrafts). I'm going back to uni as a mature student to do a 1 year postgrad. Does anyone know if any bank would accept a 1 year course to apply for a student account?

What's a good, simple, prepaid card ?
I'm looking for a straightforward card that I can load up with money in order to pay on the internet or in shops without having to use my bank card or credit card and thus hand over my details.Paypal seemed the obvious answer but it and similar companies like revolut are too complicated, expecting you to 'manage all your…

I am trying to submit and international payment to an account with FNB South Africa where the account number has hyphens. I have double checked this and previously made payments with Metrobank into this account so have confirmed that it is correct but when trying to submit a payment to this same account with HSBC, they…

NatWest + RBS £175 switching offers June 2025
New switching offers from NatWest and RBS, see below. Terms seem to be more or less identical between the two banks, so I've listed the T&Cs for the NatWest offer for reference. Biggest difference between past offers is that it seems to apply only to "new and existing customers who don’t hold a NatWest/RBS current account…

HSBC Currency Account Exorbitant Fees
Hi all, has anyone else had this issue? I set up a EURO HSBC current account to receive and pay Euros within the EU because their website says they don't charge any fees on these Euro transfers. Today I transferred 10,000 Euros from my HSBC euro account to my FX trading account held with The Currency Cloud (a UK Euro bank…

Looking for advice on a simple food budget tracker I’m testing
Hi everyone, I’m trying to get better at keeping my grocery costs under control — but I always seem to overspend. Snacks and impulse buys sneak into the trolley, and at the end of the week I’m not sure where the money’s gone. I’ve used a few budgeting apps, but most of them felt too complicated — they track everything…

Budgeting Spreadsheet - Advice Needed Please
Hi, I've modified a budgeting spreadsheet I found online so it matches my needs. I have a different column for each month. As I get paid on the last Friday of each month I'm wondering if i should include that as 'wages' for the following month as it seems more relevant that way. Thoughts please? What do most people do?

Santander switch incentive
I have seen the new Santander £180 switch incentive on the MSE bank page, which says You can't have had a switch bonus from Santander since September 2021. However on the Santander website itself, it says you can't have ever had an incentive paid out. I'm digging through the T&C's to see if the 2021 date MSE has shared is…

Dormancy in join account - I can't get my money
About 25 years ago, I opened up a bank account with my flat mate. She never used the account and soon after, went to USA and I lost touch with her. Last I heard she was married but have no idea what her married name is, where she is, or even if she is dead/alive (she was diagnosed with MS). I tried to get her name removed…

https://www.nationwide.co.uk/current-accounts/flexplus/Information: From 1 December 2024, the FlexPlus monthly fee will go up from £13 a month to £18 a month. Bad news. Was ready for and anticipating a £2/month hike but this is going to warrant some research. Might be time for me to ditch.

Chase's ridiculous ID policy
A warning to those thinking of using Chase: I've been banking with them since 2022. I locked myself out of the app - for some reason fingerprint ID didn't open and the passcode didn't work. I divorced in 2021, and haven't yet changed my passport back to my maiden name, as I don't want to waste the 4 years left on it. I…
