My bank wants me to use the app (HSBC) I do not want it
Anyone else infuriated by the likes of the HSBC giving the only options of using an app or going to a branch, which are as rare as hen's teeth these days when things need doing. So a long and sometimes expense trek to get to a branch.
The CEO earns millions of £'s, and yet branches are literally culled.
Been with them since 1970, when there were branches.
The only place I have found that seems happy to keep branches open, be it limited each week is Nationwide, never been with them, are they good/decent and interested in us the hoi polloi.
The HSBC has left me enraged today.

Sounds like time to vote with your feet then, but what was it that you were looking to do, for which you were given the choice between app or branch visit?

Nationwide offer a great service in my experience and seem to plan to keep branches open, so worth a go.

What is it that you can’t do in online banking, and only in the app or by a branch visit?

My experience with Nationwide, a few years ago now, was everything was terribly old fashioned and slow. Couldn't do a change of address online or in app. Either you posted a form to their central office or you went in branch and they posted it for you. Promised to update your address in 2-3 weeks. Everyone else could update myself online or over the phone.
As you've been advised, vote with your feet, I did but went in the other direction.

Since I change my address, on average, every 20 years or so, don't think having a slow process for notifying such would have a significant effect on me when choosing a financial services supplier.

Change of address is easily done on the Nationwide website. Takes all of two minutes.

what about HSBC’s telephone banking?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I haven’t been to a bank branch in about a decade . Using apps or online banking suits me . I am with First Direct.
Used to be with Nationwide years ago and wouldn’t go back, it was one basic error after another and the branch staff were not even trained properly on their own products.Fewer people use branches these days so you can’t blame the banks for ‘culling’ them.

I can't say HSBC ever limited me to either app or Branch - I can use online, phone, app, Branch, or even post. What is it you wanted to do? Why would you not want to use their app?

I believe HSBC stated that the physical secure key is not going away, is that no longer the case?
