Depends on who you bank with, but you can often pay it straight into your own bank account just like any other cheque. Some banks won't let you do this, but many will. Obviously the payee name on the cheque needs to match the account holder's name.

They'll almost always charge a fee, and the exchange rate they use won't necessarily be the best. But it's the quickest and easiest way of doing it, if your bank is one of the ones that do it.

Check with your bank, several high street banks still allow you to deposit euro cheques for a fee but it has to be done in person in the branch

Some recent discussions on the subject specifically talking about USD cheques, but ultimately the same problem:

Recent threads landed on Lloyds/BoS/Halifax and NatWest/RBS as banks still accepting foreign cheques.

Natwest accept foreign cheques, I had no issues a few weeks ago in doing this. If you don't have an account, it is straightforward to set one up. What I like particularly about NW is the low charges compared to my previous bank that stopped accepting foreign cheques.
