Bulk LPG - Cheapest suppliers / supply route?
Hi all, Moved into a house in Jan that has a bulk LPG tank, which was previously supplied (and the tank is owned by) Calor. The contract they were really keen for me to sign was quite a restrictive lock in one and after speaking and a bit of negotiating they dropped the standing charge and discounted the pence per litre by…

Cheaper Oil for Fuel?
Insert From Martin Where to find the cheapest fuel oil isn't easy. While gas & electricity price comparison services are common place, the same isn't true for fuel-oiled heating. The discussion that follows is a merger or two that contained much information. The answer seems to be 'get lots of quotes, and don't believe the…

Reselling of LPG gas to Park homes residential
We understand that there is no regulation from Ofgem for the reselling of LPG gas to park homes. We have recently discovered that our Park Home owner Opco Ltd has fixed a price for the gas based on a totally wrong use of the figures from an invoice which shows the cost of the LPG to them. We have highlighted the mistake…

homefire smokeless - anything as good that's cheaper?
i buy a bulk tonne each year, so don't want to risk having a tonne of poor quality. at the same time, if there's something just as good that is cheaper, i would rather spend less. most years it's worth buying over the summer before the autum price rise, but this year, possibly better to wait?

Error Payment from Calor Gas
Calor Gas Uplifted tank from our new property (for free). I asked for a refund of contents £859 (their calculation) which they sent via cheque. They are now asking for the money back as say they don't give refunds for gas taken (even though presumably they resold it). Their mistake so do I need to pay it back? They said it…

Calor Gas Underground Tank Corrosion
Hi all. I have been battling with Calor Gas over an underground LPG tank that has failed inspections due to cracks in the yellow coating. I have engineers on site today who reckoned that Calor have 4000 of these tanks that they have to resolve First question is there anybody else out there trying to resolve this issue with…

Biomass wood pellets - Have you seen the prices??
I'm shocked at the difference in wood pellets already. A year ago I bought a 65 bag pallet for £260 and now the cheapest I can find is £485. An 86% increase.... It's going to be a damn cold winter....

Tank to House connecting pipe replacement
I am with Flogas and they are about to replace my 40 year old 2200 litre above ground tank. Whilst doing the survey it was brought to my attention that the pipe that rises out of the ground to join the tank is steel and the pipe at the house end is 15mm copper. I am told that as a medium pressure system I should get this…

Air to air heat pump doesn't cool the house as much as an AC unit?
I am about to have an air to air heat pump installed in a room of my house, but the supplier said that in the summer it won't cool the room as much as an air conditioning unit would; in his words, the air to air heat pump will "only take the edge off" an extreme hot day, but not make the room cool. Is that correct? I…

Switching from oil to gas heating
Hi all, I'm a first time house buyer and have recently had an offer accepted which is exciting! It's going to be a bit of a renovation project and I need some help with heating. The house is currently using oil and I'd like to change to gas. The estate agent has told me that there is gas already on the estate so it seems…

Moving To LPG For The First Time
Currently we live in West Sussex and are on mains gas and have always been on mains gas. However, we are currently in the very early stages of looking to relocate to Devon and so far all of the properties we have looked at are not on mains gas but have LPG central heating. This is completely new to us. I understand how it…

Excess LPG delivered

Get a meter fitted for your LPG
It was driving me mad on not easily been able to keep an eye on my LPG gas usage. So i purchased a meter & fittings & got my gas engineer to fit it on my next boiler service. Now this was at a cost of £120.00 in total with a cheap cctv camera. "CCTV ??" The only place the meter would go was in the loft, as that's where the…

Flogas or Calor
We currently get our gas from Calor, we have an underground tank which they provided (I'm assuming, it was here when we bought the house 3 years ago. The house is 7 years old, rural location in Dorset). Our contract with Calor has just lapsed and we are looking to change to Flogas. They have quoted us 52p per litre and 30p…
