I've jsut moved in and want to switch providers
Hello I'm a first-time buyer and have just moved into my new home. The gas and electricity suppliers are British Gas and I've looked at setting up a tariff directly through them. However, their options - whether fixed or variable - are way more expensive than what I've seen on comparison sites (including some other British…

Eon next smart, which deal to stick with
Hi all, first time poster, I wanted some advice on whether i should revert back to my deal ending 5th November (still in cooling off period) or stick to the new more expensive deal but gives me another 4 months of breathing room with the current crisis. Original deal which ends 05/11/2026 (if I revert back to it) Current…

Opinion needed on failed supplier switch compensation.
So situation as follows. No welcome message on meter or IHD, when it usually shows on a switch. New supplier has admitted verbally and in writing problems their side, but not in wording that says switch is failed, in their words its just a meter communication error. Meter is actually communicating, Bright service still…

Smart meter gone dumb not have two years of bill to pay
hi. I noticed my usage on my bills were not the same as what they are charging me. Basically the smart meter went dumb for probably two years. BG are now sending me bills for £1600 as back payment. Are they allowed to do this as I thought they could only back pay for a certain amount of time? Many thanks

Petition
If not allowed, please delete - I don’t think this is political, even though it is something that I think at least needs a debate in Parliament. As this has been highlighted on the TV and by Martin Lewis himself, I think it should be given some legs. If Martin wants to raise awareness of this it would be great, but I am…

Why are Octopus increasing their standing charge by almost 10%?
Just received a big email from Octopus about how electricity Energy prices will be dropping in April following Octopus championing against some govt levies etc and how much I'm going to be saving on my electricity bill, overall £98.89 a year on an electricity bill of £1777 - so -5.5%…but at the same time they are…

When do you think energy companies will announce the 1st April prices for people on fixes?
How long will they leave it? Or is the plan to try and get away without offering the reduction? Citing “extraordinary circumstances”, “challenging conditions”, etc I’d like to know how much I’ll be paying.

Hi everyone, Last year I was with Utility Warehouse for gas/elect/broadband but I had so many problems with them that I ended up taking them to the Ombudsman, which I won. I am now with a better energy supplier, and have been for 3 months, but now I am receiving letters saying that I owe UW £6 in credit fee? What is credit…

British Gas refund of over £4,000 not received
I am the executor for an estate in which a property was sold in May 2025, the property had been empty since April 2024 and the gas had been turned off since then. I had been ringing them and giving meter readings between April 2024 and May 2025 but they continued to send estimated bills (none of which I paid as no gas was…

Using electricity in the barn that has not been paid for - HELP!
Ok so two years ago we moved into our new cottage which has an old milking barn outside which has a water and electric supply. The water in the outside barn is supplied from the mains at the house and so was the electricity we thought as the old meter in the barn is taped up. Unaware to us it now seems this not the case…

April Tariff Changes and Direct Debit Recalc
I wonder if suppliers will re-calc Direct Debits after applying the new rates from April 1st. If they don't I can see lots of complaints from people who only focus on their DD that they haven't saved any money, and the suppliers will have more credit building up... I doubt they have considered it yet.

Octopus Tracker
I just wondered about people's experiences with this tariff and whether they feel they are winners or losers. I got a quote from them yesterday, and I have to say I find the numbers highly misleading. The figures are very attractive, beating even the good fixed rate tariff I got from Avro, but presumably based on an…
