Scottish Power faulty meter change
Hello, could anyone, please, tell me if prepay gas meter has to ran out of credit before it can be changed? I have an ancient meter, button of which became unresponsive, so I'm having trouble topping it up. I contacted Scottish Power to sort it out, but they refuse until I ran out of gas, which obviously, I don't want to.…

Octopus forecast electricity costs could increase 15% plus by 2030.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cg73vm8yzv2o/ three different takes on projected input of current policy - one biased more by Iran perhaps. "Another forecast, by energy supplier Octopus, suggests electricity bills could increase by at least 15% by 2030, with grid investments and other costs adding about £260-£300." And…

SSEN Connections
A few years ago I requested my electric meter be moved. I lived in a farmhouse and the meter was in a barn belonging to someone else. I was initially told because I paid the bill for both meters it was my supply and moving the supply cable at a cost of 500 pounds. Paid it, then was told that I would have to install a…

Aclara smart meter + Scottish Power + Off peak electric water heater immersion
Surprise there isn’t more awareness about this whole farce ongoing considering most flats in this area have no gas what so ever and are all hooked up with electric water heaters. Electric water heater supplies hot taps shower bath etc. It’s recommended to time the water boil between suppliers off peak cheap rates, and off…

EON Next Time of Use Energy Consumption- Electric
I had my suspicions that I was being overcharged for energy with EON, so I went through my bills and noted that there were no meter readings just consumption figures. I added them all up, added them to the opening reading I had when I joined them and by my calculation this was 10k kw more than my final energy reading with…

Octopus Tracker
I just wondered about people's experiences with this tariff and whether they feel they are winners or losers. I got a quote from them yesterday, and I have to say I find the numbers highly misleading. The figures are very attractive, beating even the good fixed rate tariff I got from Avro, but presumably based on an…

Eon next power up
Eon next have invited me to sign up for their PowerUp event tomorrow from 10:00am to 12:00pm. “Your target is to use 1% more electricity than you usually would during this time” “If you hit your target, we’ll give you £0.20 credit for every extra kWh of electricity you use.” Anybody else participating?

Cost of Repairing a Gas Leak, £600??
Hello all. Was 9 days without gas provision (no heating, hot water using immersion heater, no hob) due to a gas leak. Smell was coming from behind skirting in hallway (near gas meter which is just outside basement door). I tried to get my insurance (Privilege) or their associated Home Emergency service to at least do…

Intelligent Octopus Go limiting cheap charging.
Octopus are limiting their off peak charging rates on Intelligent Go to 6 hours a day from January 2026. This will effectively be 42kwh max per day but Ohme chargers often lower the charge rate according to the grid thereby going over the 6 hours. Octopus are blaming Ohme, hopefully it will be resolved before the limit is…

Fixed rate Octopus
I am aware that Octopus now charge "early leaving fines" on fixed rate deals What concerns me - is what happens to tariffs - come August (I am on fixed August 2025 v3) ? Will we be offered a fixed rate deal then or is it worth investigating now ?

Intelligent Octopus Go
we have checked 🐙 bill breakdown for the last year and found we’ve been charged svt rate for time slots when our EV was charging and have proof of this from the OHME app. aware it’s a beta programme so not sure whether to pursue it and wondered if anyone on here has the same experience? It adds up to around £30 over the…

EDF
Hi I swooped from Utilita last Oct 2025 to EDF reading was 398 at the time (active import reading). This was a brand new meter so accumulated this with Utilita over 6 months. This seems about the correct usage each month for a one person flat. EDF have not taken smart readings since so each month I have submitted them…

Credit balance refund and billing mistakes
I'm with one of the big energy suppliers, on a dual fuel dd standard rate, have been for about 5 years. At some point a few years back there was a misreading with my gas meter reading (must've been me, since I've not seen a meter reader in about 10 years). It was an over read, so I got billed for too much gas. Never…
