Plug in Solar
I caught the last few seconds on radio four, about plug in solar coming to the UK. How does it work in other countries, where its already in use? I have seen examples of panels on a balcony and a flat roof, I have a outbuilding with a flat roof, so DIY would work for me. There are kits on ebay for £300+, would a system…

PAYG Extremely High
Hi all I live in a 1 bedroom flat with my partner and our PAYG electricity seems extremely high. It is an all electric flat with no central heating. We use 1 plug in heater in the evening occasionally (only when absolutely necessary), we have an immersion heater but this is on a timer to come on between 5-7am and 4-5pm.…

Bright app, Glowmarkt download and export data
My smart meter measures both my electricity usage (import) and the export from my solar panels. When I look on the Bright app it will show me half-hourly data of both import and export. The same company responsible for the Bright app (Hildebrand) also lets me download my usage data from the Glowmarkt website. But the…

Electric Meter 6 years out of certification
I've been trying to get Octopus Energy to install a smart meter for a year now with no success. I know lots of people don't want one, but I do, and I've been writing and waiting and writing and waiting. My electricity meter was installed in 1971 and last certified in October 1992. As a Ferranti FNN2Q its certification ran…

Credit balance refund and billing mistakes
I'm with one of the big energy suppliers, on a dual fuel dd standard rate, have been for about 5 years. At some point a few years back there was a misreading with my gas meter reading (must've been me, since I've not seen a meter reader in about 10 years). It was an over read, so I got billed for too much gas. Never…

When do you think energy companies will announce the 1st April prices for people on fixes?
How long will they leave it? Or is the plan to try and get away without offering the reduction? Citing “extraordinary circumstances”, “challenging conditions”, etc I’d like to know how much I’ll be paying.

Do we need a smart meter to move from prepayment to fixed direct debit?
Hi everyone, I'll cut right to the chase. Whenever I input my address to get a quote from a company, we are simply told in some form or another "hey, you have a prepayment meter, call us for a quote". I don't mind at all honestly but my parents are still wearing their tinfoil hats regarding them. We've been on prepayment…

E7 active period differs from billing period
While monitoring my energy usage I noticed that for the first 30 minutes my E7 (off peak) becomes active (Midnight - 00.30) I am being charged on the peak rate tariff not the off peak. As this is when all my appliances on off peak circuits start drawing power it's my highest cost of my E7 active period (Not tariff period).…

So I looked at the market and liked Scottish Power because they offer an ev specific…

Scottish Gas Annual Boiler Service
I have a Homecare Contract with British (Scottish) Gas and last week received an email from them, saying that it was time for my annual service visit for my boiler. Smart Export Guarantee while on an OVO Fixed Tariff
I have invested in a 8kW of solar panels with a Tesla Powerwall 3 set up that will be installed next week. Long term it looks like the best tariff for this set up will be Octopus' Intelligent Flux tariff. However in the near term I am contracted to OVO on their Extended Fixed plan, with two £75 early exit penalties for…
