Eon next power up
Eon next have invited me to sign up for their PowerUp event tomorrow from 10:00am to 12:00pm. “Your target is to use 1% more electricity than you usually would during this time” “If you hit your target, we’ll give you £0.20 credit for every extra kWh of electricity you use.” Anybody else participating?

Octopus gas tariff
My fix ends in 2 days and looks like flexible is cheapest currently. But I'm guessing it'll go up in July? Fix is 1p more per kWh. Is that the sensible choice? Having an exit fee makes it a harder decision

Switching to flat rate when smart meter was previously economy 7
Hi all, I hope you can help. I moved into a 2 bed electric only flat in December that had storage heaters & economy 7. After the shock of my first month's bill being £300 😱 I replaced the storage heaters with infrared panels so no longer needed the econ 7 tariff. I was on Octopus Flexible (with different day/night rates)…

Fuse App problems?
If you check the long Fuse thread I started about 18months ago (which still grows), one of my reasons for signing up with them is the app that updates in real time (mostly) and allows me to check the KwH consumption when I make tweaks to my heat pump algorithm or whatever. Every so often it lags for a wee while if the DCC…

"Switch and get cashback*" questions
Cheap Energy Club shows this for every entry in the results page (or just Switch*) but nowhere does it say what the asterisk means. I'm also concerned that, as an Eon customer, I won't qualify for the Eon Next tariff switch cashback. I can't see any information about whether existing customers also get the cashback and I'd…

Home Energy sticking to opening "industry read" (double charged units?)
A couple of months ago, I switched to Home Energy for electricity. Despite having a smart meter and the previous supplier using the correct reading for the closing read (ending '115'), Home Energy insist on using an "industry" opening read (ending '095') meaning there's a double charge of around 20 units (they are charging…

Installing a electric charging port at home
I’ve recently got an electric car and now looking into getting a charging point installed at home. I remember a few years ago there were quite generous grants available (or even free installations in some cases), but not sure what the situation is now. Does anyone know if there are still any schemes available to reduce the…

Can I change to daily smart meter readings?
I recently switched from OVO to a fixed unit price deal with Fuse Energy (thanks to MSE Cheap Energy Club). My choice with OVO was monthly readings and Fuse are taking half hourly readings. I contacted them to ask to change to just daily readings and they have replied to say the can't do it. As the unit rate doesn't vary…

Octopus intelligent go questions
I might well be missing something obvious here but can anyone confirm my reservations on switching to this tariff please. I am about to purchase an EV and am looking at sorting out how to organise home charging. Our annual mileage will be quite low (about 5000 per annum) so would not need to worry about charging every…

Help please - British Gas and Ombudsman hell…
I’ve joined this forum at a large ditch attempt to resolve the ongoing issues I am experiencing. If anyone has any advice or signposting it would by much appreciated and I don’t know where else to turn! It’s a long one…. Background Over a prolonged period, my electricity account has recorded extremely high levels of usage,…

how to find a energy provider who offers variable DDs
Just that really. I want to have a variable DD but when I look on different providers' website there no indication to say they offer these. On the energy club comparison page there are some providers (i.e. Fuse) that say they only offer variable DDs but they are not necessarily ones I want to go with due to high exit fees…

Heat network charges — £50/week for hot water in a new-build London flat. Is this normal?
Hi all, hoping for some advice as we're really struggling to get anywhere with our supplier. We recently moved into a 2-bed, 800 sq ft new-build flat in London (3 adults). We're on a communal heat network — one central boiler for the whole building (~27 flats), with an individual meter in our flat measuring our usage.…

Desperately Need Help With Octopus Energy
Hi, I'm trying to help a friend of mine who is going through a horrendous time at the moment. She's recently escaped from an abusive relationship, which has caused a lot of issues, particularly financially. From what she's told me, one of her biggest problems is the amount that Octopus is charging on her pre-payment meter.…

British Gas newspeak
My BG energy account was recently credited following a billing issue. Checking my last statement, the DDs I've paid since then, and the anticipated credit, the balance looks to be correct. However nowhere in the account (such as under payment history) is there a record of the credit. I will have to wait for my next…

Octopus energy confusion
Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice on whether I should take my electricity supplier (Octopus Energy) to small claims court, or if there is another route I should take. I’m struggling to understand everything they’ve done, so I’d really appreciate some outside opinions. Background I have three Ombudsman decisions in my…

EDF Large credit balance
Talk about having the worst days of your life..EDF for a long time have been showing a large credit balance of c£9k on my account. Every other month i would try and submit my meter readings. They would never get accepted on their portal. I would try and book in a smart meter installation but they failed to do that too. I…

Octopus or Eon?
Moved into a new property Friday and the old supplier is Eon. Wanted to stick with British gas but they wanted an estimate of £300 a month. When researching the best deal, it was octopus who estimated £188 a month but have explained if the usage goes up or down then they will just adjust the direct debit. I’ve had a call…
