EDF meter readings history gone AWOL

Just wondering if it is a site glitch or just my account. Logged on this morning to enter my latest meter readings, which were accepted, but whilst the last 18 months of gas readings are listed the electric list is blank. Just says there are no historical readings. I am not concerned as I have all my spreadsheet data & always download a copy of every bill of which the most recent shows my 1st April reading. Anyone else noticed this or have I got a personal gremlin?

    @Largs

Appreciate you checking. The gremlin is being personal then. No worries.

It appears that the EDF app was updated on 29 April - which probably explains why it is now not showing readings, nor has my bill for April been generated. And yes I have uninstalled and reinstalled it, to no effect. Always submitted readings on 1st of the month and always had my bill within 24 hours on my account and emailed to me. So the all new improved app seems to be a bit of a lemon! And I don't think the Bank Holiday can be held responsible as when I gave readings on 1st January I got my bill later the same day.

I have now received a bill for my gas usage, but no mention of electricity, apart from the predicition of annual usage. However at the top of the bill it says "your energy bill has been discounted from the 1st April following action taken by the UK Government in the 2025 Budget". The gas has been charged at the rate of 5.381pence/kWh+VAT (standard variable tariff rate in my region). I have an ongoing email exchange with EDF, so will see if anything further materialises. Meanwhile they are not asking to take the £38 I reckon I owe them for April's electric usage. Obviously NOT desperate to rake in money!! Or is the £38 my pressie from Rachel? All very curious and confusing.

Are you seeing the same issue on both the website and app, or just one of them? Since the app update seems to be causing problems, it might be worth trying the desktop site if you haven't already. Also worth checking if your electricity meter is showing as "smart" or "traditional" in your account settings - sometimes the display gets confused between the two and hides readings. The billing issue mentioned above suggests there might be a wider data sync problem affecting electric accounts specifically.

My account shows just the same on 2 phones, a tablet & desktop PC no matter how I access my account.. Repeated uninstall/reinstall of app has changed nothing. No historic elec readings, just the submitted read as of 1st May, which is refusing to generate a bill. EDF are looking into it - their problem to solve if they want me to pay for usage! Today they have requested photos of the meter, serial number - everything but it's shoe size!! Which of course should all be known to them anyway since I was with EDF when it was installed. This simply reinforces that I am more than happy to read my own meters & keep a close check on usage & billing. The meter is continuing to clock up my usual 3 or 4kWh per day, so I know it is working.

I will get this sorted and only really posted here on the forum in case anyone else had the same issue, which would show the problem is EDFs end, not mine. Quite happy with the CS person I am in daily communication with & once again my little grey cells are getting a workout. Last problem I had persisted for 6 weeks & resulted in £100 compo for the inconvenience, so keeping fingers crossed. 😜

After a month of to and fro messaging I finally received my April electricity bill, and all my past readings have been restored to my account. Apparently my meter had been commissioned in error (I have always made it very clear I don't want readings being pulled as I prefer the freedom of choice to submit them myself). It has now been decommissioned & the Comms hub connection terminated (their words/jargon) & we are back to it acting in "dumb mode". Apologies received (but no ££ this time) & harmony is restored, but you really do have to watch your account like a hawk these days.

Curious that they would do that as they have no obligation to stop the data collection and they actually need it to meet their obligations under the MHHS scheme.

I'm going to guess that the meter is still commissioned (and has been ever since installation) but EDF have convinced their billing system not to use smart readings.

OP if you cycle the display on your meter does it say "Welcome to EDF" on one of the screens? And what flashing LEDs do you have on your comms hub?

Ever since it was installed there have never been any readings on my account, other than the ones submitted by myself, until one suddenly appeared on 11th May after I had queried why they had not billed me. It was almost correct, although actually 1kWh MORE than the display was showing when I checked. In the course of the ongoing negotiations I queried this and was asked to supply photos.

The green WAN and HAN lights on the comms hub flash together every 4 or 5 seconds

The red light (whatever that is) on the actual meter flashes every 25 to 30 seconds

    Cycle shows 3 screens

First is just a load of hashed out boxes

Next reads "Credit Mode £12.48" (which makes very little sense to me, although is within £1 of being the S/C to date)

Third screen reads "Rate 01 1436kWh" which is todays reading

Nothing else - certainly no "Welcome" screen

I have never taken any notice of any display cycle from when it was installed as apart from taking readings to submit or add to my spreadsheet I have better things to do!

    All very curious!
