Recommend a finances planning website/app/chart
I'm trying to plan out a 10 year period of time, that shows current finances, plus additional finances that are coming in 18 months time, and again in 8 years time. And also show interest expected in that time. But also shows a monthly outgoing. Ideally I'd like to show it/plot it in months. Obviously all figures will be…

Halifax zero balance transfer is a joke
I regard myself as quite savvy when it comes to zero% balance transfers I've had a Halifax credit card for some years which I used occasionally for purchases and always cleared balance. One of my other cards zero % offer was coming to a close and rather than clear the balance I decided to move it to a 12 month 0% transfer…

Faulty boots, shop asking me to jump through hoops
Hello and thanks in advance. I purchased a pair of boots in early April 2025 to use for stable/yard use and trail type walking. They were £124 and advertised as waterproof. The label in the tongue says waterproof. I've worn them about 12 times, and each time my feet have been soaked. I initially though it was my feet…

Ways to reduce standing charges on half-hourly meters?
I’ve just moved my business into a new premises and discovered it has a half-hourly meter installed. I've also talked to the energy broker we've…

Conned by a Car Check
Whilst looking to purchase a used car, I downloaded a report on it. The site charged £5.95 which seemed reasonable for peace of mind. 3 days later they took £39.90 as a ‘subscription’. I complained that I hadn’t signed up to anything and wanted a refund. They have refused on the grounds it’s clearly stated on their website…

Secondhand Vehicle - Seller Denying Responsibility for Problem
I purchased a 3-year-old Tesla with under 14,000 miles from a main dealer (not Tesla) and at the time of purchase, I noticed a minor creaking noise. However, after driving approximately 5,000 miles over the past three months, the creaking has worsened considerably. Following an inspection by Tesla, it was revealed that the…

Car breakdown issues directly after garage service - garage not taking responsibility
Summary: I recently got my car serviced and very soon afterwards my car started to break down. The garage have examined the car and are not taking responsibility for the issue, and I am being faced with a hefty repair bill. I'm kind pre 'mortgage free wannabe' but also needing the comfort blanket of a good ole MSE diary. So current situation, co-parenting with Ex H. We both have partners and everything is friendly. We…

Use TFLS to pay off Mortgage now or in 5 years - how does the maths work?
My thinking is that withdrawals from my DC pension are effectively taxed at 15% (assuming I don't go over 256k of TFLS) so I would need the funds in the pension to grow 15% faster than the interest rate on the mortgage (lets call it 4% fixed) for it to be better to keep the mortgage. So if I can get a nominal return of…

Defining a second home.

Giving up Life Interest to Pay Other Beneficaries
Hi all I was a life interest beneficary in a property which I shared ownership with my wife as tenants in common. She died in 2022. This has now been sold, and I have bought a new home using my own funds and I did not require the trustees to help me with buying my new property. A solicitor has provided the following advice…
