    My wife is state pension age & she has received a migration notice also.                       My migration notice states that my housing benefit & my Income Related Esa will soon be stopping :                                                           My current esa claim has my wife on it ; I am the main claimant.                                              I am in the support group(LCWRA):                    My wife’s receives the full state pension amount:                                                               We have no children:                                        I receive PIP.                                                       I just wanted to give everyone some info regarding our situation before I/we asked for advice & guidance from you good people😊

    People on here are very familiar with the couple's situation, so you'll get any helpful information you need. I think for many people, they're just fed up with it lingering as a worry in the background for years.

    Your PiP remains outside of UC.

    Is your ESA all income related or Contribution related with an income related top up ?

    Are you renting via council or housing association or privately?

    Thank you TimeLord1👍.                                     So to clarify for UC purposes pip is Not counted as Income in the calculation of an award of Universal Credit(Totally Disregarded).   It states on my/our Migration Notices Income Related Esa so I presume/assume this is correct✅.                                                          We are in an Hounsing Association & our rent is paid weekly:                                                  Thank you TimeLord1👍                                   With regard to pip&Uc this is good to know:

    It may state on the migration notice income related but you could still have contribution related with it

    Do you get Christmas bonus of £10 in December on your ESA letters ?

    @Claretblue75

    Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is not counted as income for the purpose of assessing eligibility for other benefits or for tax purposes. It's a tax-free benefit designed to help individuals with the extra costs associated with long-term ill health or disability.

    So is it the case that once we move onto UC we will/should be no worse off;(should at least receive the amount of benifit(s),if not more we are currently receiving?                                      Can someone please confirm this😊.                I believe this is called Transitional Protection

    If your UC award is lower than legacy benefits, Transitional Protection will be added to your claim.
    This is so at the time of transfer you aren't worse off.
    TP does erode over time as other elements go up or new elements are added to the claim.

    Your money with transitional protection will not see your current payment reduced. However, they might pay more than you're currently on. Your council (may) alter your Council Tax once you claim universal credit or you might not see any changes.

    Did you check the past ESA letters for the Christmas bonus?
