UC:Mix age couple Migration Notice

It means that you have contribution-related ESA entitlement also with an income-related top-up. So part of your ESA will be paid fortnightly and the income-related amount monthly by Universal Credit. The legacy ESA contribution amount becomes. New Style ESA.0

So I am a bit confused now”
so are you saying we will recieve UC as a couple & I will recieve New style ESA as well
just for me!!!!
l thought the whole point of me/us getting migration notices would be that ESA would end completely & we should recieve UC only!
Please clarify, Thanks

So you'll get a lower UC payment because together with the ESA it adds up to the same as if you just received your maximum UC entitlement.1 -
Yes, that's correct. Only part of your ESA is income-based, probably the Disability Income Guarantee Payment, or DIG. The other part was contribution based so still paid every two weeks as New style ESA.0

Thanks for your replies:(spoonie&timelord)👍With the new rates of ESA 25/26 just coming into effect & my wife’s new State Pension increase we will be entitled to;
£230.25 per week(Full State Pension)
£921.00 every 4 weeks:(Full State Pension)
With regard to My/Our current ESA award we should/will be recieving;
Couple rate ————-£144.65
Support group———-£ 48.50
Carer premium———-£ 46.40
Pension premium——-£153.45
—————
£393.00 Minus
State pension £230.25
Equals £162.75
So £162.75 per week is my esa Income Related award(£325.50 every Two weeks)
My/Our Award as of Now✅

Re:We have no children(No child element UC)
Re:Wife is my full time carer(35hours)
Re:We recieve £325.50 every 2 weeks(IRESA)
Question:Timelord1;Are you saying I will be on New style ESA(Single person)once we have completed the process of Migrating over to Universal Credit.
Also who is @Newcad
Will I/we recieve the Carer premium?

THANK YOU ALL✌️
ps:Off to bed0 -
You won't see a decrease in any money; it's just paid out in separate ways. I can't remember if you have housing benefit; I'll look back.0

Ok, so your housing costs and carer premium are what universal credit should be paying eventually monthly.
Your wife's pension is paid monthly by DWP
not by Universal credit but used as a deduction
The rest is your contribution ESA that will become New Style ESA paid fortnightly.0 -
I'm Newcad, TimeLord1 was just giving me a shout to see if I could help here.At the moment your ESA is made up of:
- CB ESA - Standard Allowance and Support Group. (£193.15)
- IR ESA - Carer premium and Pensioner Premium. (£199.85)
The IR ESA part will migrate into UC and you will be paid a LCWRA element of £423.27 a month. The CB ESA part will continue as 'New Style ESA' and will be paid separately from UC at £386.30 every 2-weeks, however as it's 'unearned income' that will then be deducted at £836.98 a month from your UC entitlement. We don't appear to have everything that we would need to calculate how much UC you should get.
for example: Do you also get Carers Allowance, separately to ESA?What we can say for now:- You will get the Standard Allowance for a couple, you will get the LCWRA element, you will get Housing Element for your rent (which will pay the same as your current HB does). You might get a Transitional Element to make sure that your UC entitlement is not less than your previous entitlements combined.
- You will have deductions from you UC entitlement for the 'unearned income' from ESA and State Pension.
To work out how much UC you should be entitled to use one of the benefits calculators, the Entitledto calculator can handle Mixed Age Couples migrating to UC, and can calculate any Transitional Element that may due.
(It can also tell you if there will be any change to your Council Tax payments, that can happen).Put in your details and it will calculate what you should get paid when you migrate to UC
