Migration from ESA to UC
Hi all, A friend of mine was sent a letter telling her she must start the migration from ESA to UC. She got someone from a local charity to help her fill the form out with her and today she's been told that her money will be reduced by 3/4 but she's also been told that she can't appeal the decision but I wanted to know if…

Dealing with a private rent increase on Univeral Credit
I've agreed a rent increase with my private landlord. I've been their tenant for 13 years with no rent increase and currently pay well under the lha. They have had the property up for sale but have agreed to remove it from the market if I can pay the full lha (still well below market value). How/when do I go about this in…

UC carers element tribunal won but
Just a quick description of my situation. I am looking after somebody who is claiming PIP and his bedbound. There is plenty of documentation regarding this and I had to stop working because I'm looking after him more than 35 hours a week. I had no clue about the carers element of UC and the DWP did not convey this…

Retrospectively claiming carers NI credits possible?
My mother is mid 80’s in receipt of her state pension. She cared for her brother and father for two separate periods in excess of 10 years. We urged her to claim carers allowance at the time but she refused. Her state pension is roughly 60% of the full amount, she would have obviously received credits had she been a carer…

LCWRA payment help!
Hi all - been awarded LCWRA due to a major operation, they have stated it is awarded from 22nd May. So, am I correct in thinking, that as you have to wait 3 months, then the 3 months waiting was up on the 22nd August? (22 May - 22 Jun, 22 Jun - 22 Jul, 22 Jul - 22 Aug). My next payment date for UC is on the 22 Sep, but…

DWP forcing me to repay a debt caused by identity fraud
Hi everyone, I’m
hoping for advice and to find out if anyone else has been through something
similar. I am a
victim of identity fraud. In 2023, someone used my details to make several
Universal Credit claims. Despite clear red flags, the DWP approved a £763
“advance” payment to the fraudster. Instead
of investigating…

Shared ownership and universal credit.

Universal credit and class 2 NI (self employed NI)
Hello Please correct me if I'm wrong. But being on Universal credit automatically contributes towards your natiional insurance. So if self assessment gives you the OPTION whether to pay or not, you should pick not. Is that true? I'm a bit confused about the NI optional payments. I will post on the tax board so as not to…

Good afternoon. My brother (58) suffered a haemorrhagic stroke last November. He was paid Statutory Sick Pay for 28 weeks. It is unlikely he will work again and is now in receipt of full PIP and UC. Should he have been entitled to housing and council tax benefit during this time? He is waiting to be rehoused in sheltered…

Universal Credit Contributions to workplace pensions
My 38 year old daughter works full time in retail and gets universal credit. However, her workplace pension is not building up very quickly. If she contributed more to her pension, would universal credit make up the difference in her pay?

If I sell my house how will my UC be affected?
i get the disabled/support rate of Universal Credit. If i sell my home & move in with my elderly parents what happens to my UC? Would PIP be affected? If I sold my house I'd obviously get a chunk of money that would be over the £16,000 savings limit of UC. So would my UC stop immediately? That house money would either be…

Can DWP demand payback of an Attendance Allowance overpayment after death?
The overpayment was made after my mother passed away. They were obviously made aware of her passing. I know they can request the overpayment back for state pension overpayments but are **not** allowed to enforce repayment. Is it the same for Attendance Allowance? Thanks for the help.

PIP or a related number phoned out of the blue.I and my keyworker missed them. Will they phone back?
Hello. I am hoping people can help as I've had a phone call off a number I didn't recognise and have spam calls to navigate as I am a bit paranoid / suspicious if I don't recognise numbers. It was completely out of the blue, no text, letter or anything saying they'd phone, so I looked the number up afterwards and it looks…

PIP Timeline
Just wondered if anyone could give me an idea of how long they waited once their PIP application was submitted? I initially had an application deadline of 25th July but asked for 3 extensions as I was finding it really hard to complete the form. I posted it on Wednesday 10th September and I was just wondering how long…
