Belgian pension online problem
I was notified by the Belgian state last week that my login credentials would no longer apply from February 2026. I have signed into www.mypension.be since 2016 with a password which they now say will no longer be valid. They tell me to get an eID... But in order to get it, I need to travel to Belgium which is not…

Affordability complaint win - what tax do I pay?
I had two loans with Lendables that won affordability claims. They never sent a detailed breakdown of the refund just that they removed charges and interest and give refund of 8% simple interest. They added “We've deducted income tax at the basic rate from the interest included in the refund” So does that mean I’ve paid…

State Pension Contributions
I started work at 16 and am now 52. I have paid in my full 35 years contributions for the state pension. If I continue to work till 68 or 69 or 80 (sarcasm on UK Government) then I would have paid in an additional 17 or 18 years. Is this fair? Do I have any choices here? This excert from the BBC News website prior to…

Admin of posts in ongoing correspondence
I participate in the Home Energy Forum in which there is a thread entitled Octopus Agile. I have been arguing for a post reference system in which each contribution is automatically given a serial "#" reference number. This makes reference to previous contributions vastly simpler. I have seen this system elsewhere in MSE I…

Pension savings credit and earnings
When I became eligible for pension savings credit, I declared all of my income including anything I earned through completing surveys. My accounts had to be checked. I do a few studies on Prolific Academic and it does pay well for the time spent. I was just wondering, when I calculate my earnings, should I take into…

Demanding a partial rather than full refund
Hi there, I bought a saxophone online from Cash Converters for £200, which was listed as having physical scratches but no defects. Upon inspection by my saxophone teacher (more than 31 days after purchase, but less than six months), I was told the valves needed some repairs at a cost of £70, but that otherwise it was in…

O2 Price Increase April 2026
Hi all, I'm 11 months into a 24m sim only contract with o2. I would like to get a new handset as I don't think my current one will stretch for another 13months, so I'm thinking I might cancel my current contract and get a handset&airtime contract instead. Can I do this and not have to pay the outstanding balance? I've seen…

Old State pension v New State pension
Until today's Budget details I'd never realised there was so much difference between them, about £250 a month. How can this be justified when someone on the new pension could have made fewer contributions than someone on the old. Seems highly inequitable, was the change never challenged in the courts?

Debt Company Issues
Recently moved into a property in August, with outstanding utility bills being addressed to myself and co-tenant from June. We were told by power company to ignore the letters as they were faulty however this then resulted on us getting handed over to debt company, who rectified part of the issue and managed to get a…

This means from April 2029, some middle and higher earners are likely to get a bit less take-home pay. Here's how it'll…

Vanguard problem
Hello, I'm managing a Vanguard account as executor of a will. Vanguard are insisting that I am obliged to tell them my income and employment, or they will stop me making withdrawals from the account. They are saying they are collecting this information for regulatory purposes, to detect fraudulent activity. I don't see how…
