Fixed charges on my water bill - increased by 46% this year!
Got my water bill today and it has inceased by 16.25%. Ouch. When I check the breakdown I can see that the increase in the fixed (standing charges) for both water and sewage has increased by just over 46%! I guess it costs a lot of money to pump loads of raw sewage into our rivers.

Hi I am with Anglian Water and pay a monthly Direct Debit but I am only billed Annually. So the credit builds up over time. I asked to be billed monthly and I was told that is not possible as they do not employ enough meter readers. Every Anglian Water Customer is giving them money monthly which is only being used annually…

Water bill increase - can't people power win?
According to the World Health Organisation, water is one of three life "essentials" (sorry, but your mobile is not one of them!) In the UK we have a monopolised water supply system, which benefits shareholders and bosses (I wonder how many politicians DON'T have shares in the monopoly they created - Kerrrrrching!). We are…

Issue with Adoption of Private Sewer
I am reaching out to anyone who has experience of a water company refusing to adopt a private sewer and the appeal to OFWAT. Our situation is very briefly that we believed our private sewer was adopted by the water company in 2011 under the transfer of private sewers legislation. We have lived in the property for 30 years…

Water Billing
I have just received an email from my water company advising me of my new balance of almost £600 so it was a bit of a shock considering my last years bill was just over £400! This isn't the thing that's bugging me though! I read the rest of the email and noticed that this is for the whole year as I'd expected, but what I…

Noticed a discrepancy in usage - after 2 years. What are my rights?
I've been paying by direct debit - which kept increasing over the past few years. I thought it was due to general increase in cost of utilities. I recently logged in for the first time. Noticed that there was an incredible spike in use (>10x normal usage) around 2 years ago over a period of 6-8 months (meter is read every…

Fairness of Assessed Billing & Hosepipe Bans
Hey everyone, I couldn't see any details of this being asked in the past, so I wanted to get peoples opinions on something. My house does not have a water meter (for the record, I'd love to have one! When I last enquired about it I was informed there was no room to install a meter/stop tap and to get in touch if I ever had…

Water Bill Advice - not been charged for 6 years - what are our rights?
First time post her on the forum. We are really in need of some sound advice and hopefully this is a good place to get some help. Shared supply question
Apologies if this has been asked several times before... I recently discovered that the external stopcock at our house is connected to two other houses. We have a meter (next to said stopcock) as does one of the other houses. The 3rd house just pays water rates. I can understand how South Staffs Water could deduct the…

Thames Water not reporting to CRA
I moved to the UK (London) from a non-EU country last May, and I am trying to build my credit here... When we moved here, my husband (Brit) became the Primary Account Holder of Thames Water, and I was added as the "Additional account holder" so I could build my credit from utility payments. However, I do not see anything…
