Water Companies Fixed charge

Astonished at my new water bill coming in at a 37.17% increase. Thames water are I believe 34%
and then found that the fixed charges Fresh water 50.16% and Waste water at 72.7% increases.
Is there no control on these companies? Highway Robbery

The headline increase is based on an average user, it varies depending on usage, metered, rateable or assessed.

They are regulated by Ofwat who set the prices.

Have a look at the CCW website. 
There are ideas to change the structure of charges into 3 blocks. 
Low users will pay much less and high users much more.  
Encourages frugality, which can only be a good thing, particularly in areas of water stress. 
I think we should campaign for this system.
