Can anyone login? They sent me a email check your new bill, login does not work, just blanks out password on enter. Tried Chrome, IE, Avast secure and ipad. no deal. Tried to phone twice and was in a queue for an hour each time - gave up. To add insult the phone had a prerecorded boasting about the new website and all the…

Water rates relating to flats with no meter
My mother in law occupiers a flat in a
independent living building owned by Sanctuary Housing. She pays water rates
direct to STW but also pays water rates within her rent for the communal areas. I spoke to STW today for an explanation
of her bill, I was advised that she is on the Assessed Single Occupier charge.
I asked…

Should I switch to a water meter?
I live in a rented flat. The water rate I pay is based on the banding of the property. I live in London. This means that I am in the Thames Water catchment area. I’m considering switching to using a water meter. The belief is that this will reduce the amount I pay for water. Would using a meter reduce that amount of money…

Severn Trent water will
My latest bill to start in April 23 is going to be over £510 a year. Is this normal. I'm not on a metre and live in a 2 bed flat in Birmingham. Severn Trent say the bill is set on the rateable value of my property which is nothing more than 75k. I'd hate to think how much someone is paying on a much better home. Any tips…

If you don't ask, you don't get!
A friend, who cannot have a meter installed received his bill and asked me to help him pay it online. He lives alone, is retired, in a two bed semi, and only fully occupies it circa 4 days a week. The neighbour has extended his property and has a family, his bill was for the same amount; £322. Because I had read the…

£1000 + water bill
Hi, I moved to a new build property a few years ago. As usual, I took on electricity, gas, broadband and paid them as normal - either the vendor contacted me OR the builder provided my details to these utility companies. Since I moved in, I never had any water bill and no water utility company contacted me. I did not…

Severn Trent bill confusion
Hello, last year my water bill was approx £800 and was paid in full in 8 installments. Very recently I received this years bill of approx £900 with 8 installments due of £113. Severn Trent Smart Meter: not so smart
I was told by Severn Trent that my smart meter would measure my water 24/7, and soon I would be able to view statistics online. Today, I was told quite abruptly by Severn Trent that an "engineer" must come close to the property to take readings and that I cannot have a bill until that is done. The smart meter could have…

Water meter broken and replaced
We've just received a card through the door telling us that the water meter has been replaced. Under 'Final reading' for the old meter is an X. It turns out that when they tried to read the meter this year they found it was dead and arranged a replacement. We then received an estimated bill for the last 12 months. This…

Affinity Water - I don't understand your explanation of your billing. A bad start for a new metering
As I'm having to give up my daily bath due to dodgy knees so will be using a lot less water. I'm also reducing the number of washes and dishwsher loads per week to save on energy so I decided to have a water meter installed. The engineer inspected my home and installed the meter on the same the same day, 25 Jan. A very…

Assessed measured Water Tariff
Following Martin’s suggestion in a recent article, to apply for an Assessment of water usage at my house -when it was not possible to have a water meter fitted, I contacted Anglian Water. Whilst I have a 3 bedroomed house, I am a sole occupant. Anglian water cannot fit a water meter as the internal stop !!!!!! cannot be…

water meter reading
My meter was successfully read a couple of weeks ago and a bill duly generated. It was read along with the others in the road by a water company van that simply passed by, and it wasn't going particularly slowly either. It occurred to me to wonder if the meter has some power source such as a battery to enable it to respond…

Hampshire Southern Water proposed water recycling
I know this site is about saving money but these proposals mean more expensive water, and it's your own and many other people's sewage sold back to them as drinking water. If this goes ahead in Hampshire, it will be on your doorstep soon enough. You only have until the 20th of this month to have your say. Copied from the…

MSE recommends water meters
Bit of a waste of time recommending meters in our Thames Water area, I have received estimated bills since before the pandemic, so I have, for example, no idea whether my efforts during the hosepipe ban made any difference or not. Although in theory it should all be evened up when they eventually get round to reading the…
