Shared Water Supply Issues

Not sure if anyone has advice- we have a 1940's semi with a shared water supply with our neighbour and a farm about 100 metres away- the farm obviously uses a  lot of water which often leaves the houses without any at all, which causes things like our boilers and washing machines to stop working- the houses have water meters, but United utilities have always said they cannot help us as we are responsible for the supply through the shared pipework- should we really be sharing with a business such as a farm which will always need to take most of the water? Is there anything we can get the water company to do, or is it down to us to pay to have another set of pipes put in?

  • We had this a couple years ago. We spoke to the farmer and land owner who agreed to share costs. We could get the water company to assist I'm afraid.
