Slow Cooked Tuscan Inspired Stew
Long shot, but I recently had the Sainsbury Taste the Difference Slow Cooked Tuscan Inspired Pork Stew. It was so delicious that I'd love to find a copy-cat recipe, although ideally vegan or at least vegetarian. I've found a few recipes online, but I don't think they will have the sweetness that this one had. These are the…

Budget Recipe & Shopping List Website from years ago
I used to be active on o/s many years ago and I'm back <3 I remember there being a website with shopping lists and full meal plans, I think for a family of 4, (maybe it was for £100 a month?). If anyone knows the name of the site and whether it still exists, I'd love to take a look at it. I'm an ex professional chef and am…

Weekly Flylady Thread 30th January 2023
What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole task easier and quicker. We also…

Frozen money.
Have just done an audit of what is in my freezer and reckon that supplemented with minimum of fresh bought veg and a bit of creative thinking, enough to keep me going for weeks with minimal new spending. My January challenge is to eat that frozen money and save ££s.

Winter bedding question
I've got a 4-season duvet on my bed, and when it's cold at night like the next few days are forecast to be, I generally throw a fleecy blanket over the top. I've just been given a very nice quilted cotton bedspread and am curious whether this should go on the bed under or over the duvet.... ETA I always use a top sheet…

Freezing focaccia
I have started to make focaccia, but all the recipes make way too much for a singleton. When I make ordinary bread I bake it then slice it up when it has cooled and put it in the freezer so I can pull out a slice or two at a time. I could do the same with focaccia except that I want to put toppings on it. I’ve seen…

Ways to use out of date cheap "British" wine
Would be glad of any suggestions for using unwanted wine that doesn't involve drinking or cooking with it! About nine months ago I won a bottle of Rose wine as a prize in a pub quiz. I don't really like drinking wine and so the bottle got forgotten about. The trouble is the wine is "British" wine, made with imported grape…
