29th July off we fly
test test test Welcome to the weekly Flylady Thread. What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to…

Old Style Daily Sat 3rd August 2024
Morning all from Mehefinland Can't sleep - now there's a surprise. Keep thinking I should have seen something. Why didn't I get her to the doc's sooner and so on . Round and round in my head. Then the rational side tells me to grow up and get on with things. DS and Toxic are coming tomorrow with their 2 dogs so that should…

Help with meal planning for picky eaters
My kids are driving me up the wall with their picky eating and now I have meal planning paralysis and just can't think of what to cook. My son has autism and has now decided that he won't eat rice, pasta or any homemade chips or wedges. He will eat baked potatoes, chicken burgers, sausages, strawberries, peas and pizza but…

Sponge cake problems
Many years ago I made my sponge cakes in my food mixer and they always came out perfect. I then got myself a k mix. Around the same time I got a new oven and could never decide which it was that made my cakes come out nothing like they did in my old food mixer. It's still very hit and miss how my cakes come out. Sometimes…

I have tried to help but it is exhausting keep running to charity shops as we are both in our dotage now. Does anyone know of anyone…

Home & Freezer Digest Christmas Cake Recipe
Hi all, I am in desperate need of a Mary Berry Christmas cake recipe from the Home & Freezer Digest in the late 1970s. It included a can of pineapple rings. I have made this cake every year since published & now I cannot find it. I know it's late in the year but if anyone has the recipe & could share it, I would be so…

STERADENT
I suppose Sterradent is perhaps the most well known Denture cleaner, but it is expensive. Is there a more economical brand which does the same thing, better still is there a home made recipe whic I assume would cause far less ? while talking about dentures what's the best way to remove that awful paste from the denture
