Morning, thanks Gers.
The weather seems to have called down a bit, though there's twigs and bigger bits of tree everywhere.
It's hairdo morning, then this afternoon dh. has a hospital appointment for another scan.
Hope everyone is all right after the tremendous wind yesterday, it must have done some damage.
Thinking of the sad and poorly people, take care folks14 -
Good morning 😊
An early start today, as I have an appointment this afternoon. I also plan on going to the Local Pantry, but want to give the living room a good clean first. At some point, I need to measure up for new sofa cushions, as they are losing their shape, despite me constantly giving them a good shake. When we bought the sofa, it was great that the cushions were so thick, and soft. Now it’s annoying.
For dinner, I am making a sweet potato and black bean curry with coconut rice, and salt & pepper chicken on the side for the meat eaters.
Hope you all have a good day 😊14 -
Morning folks. Thanks GERS. I hope all goes well for your DH SCARLET.
I hope you all survived intact after yesterday's battering. After 16 years on this caravan site that is honestly the worst weather we've had to endure. It was quite frightening at times. I was also worrying whether my house was ok and I hopefully wont be going home next week to find the roof in the garden!
It's still windy this morning but nothing like yesterday so I'll go out in a bit to retrieve all the blown over stuff and survey any damage round about. I hope there aren't any hardy souls on the camping field!
Have a good day if you can folks and (HUGS) for our poorlies or poorly loved ones. Take care all xx

Morning everyone well it’s calming down here not as bad as a lot of people had but quite a few trees down. I’m off out to a cleaning job in a minute I’ve got some gammon left over from Saturday I will do it with some pasta tonight. Taff if you put Kynren into you tube you will be able to see some clips of it or maybe google it’s amazing I’ve been 3 times it’s all ran by volunteers most of them turn up year after year and it’s getting bigger and better they now have a Viking village you can walk through before you go very well organised and in the market where the castle is there is a Spanish art gallery and a mining museum which is now showing a railway exhibition for the anniversary and in the castle grounds is a new faith museum which is amazing I haven’t a religious bone in my body but it is about the history of faith we are very lucky. I hope everyone managed to stay safe and there wasn’t to much damage. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing10

Well, that was some storm! It's probably the worst summer storm I've encountered here, winter ones are much worse but this was nasty. Lots of trees down and some people further north still without power, I feel for them. The power stayed on here despite the blustery heavy winds. Rain was worse down south, my nephew sent me video from his home near Worcester, here it wasn't so bad. My windows are all salt stained from the wind driving over the sea. @TA - I wouldn't want to be in a caravan during that wind, I'm glad you're OK. The storm has moved northward where it's still causing a bit of havoc. I hope that @Camelot's DD and family were sheltered in their accommodation.Unsurprisingly, I didn't take a foot outside yesterday.
I pottered around and did lots of little chores which had been piling up. The main 'little' one was clearing out the two wicker boxes I have on my coffee table which have, for too long, been the depository of bits and pieces. Now they are both almost empty, all the unnecessary stuff is in the bin at last. I started on the work surface in the utility room, anyone want Iphone cables?? Then I found four USB wall plugs, so blooming annoying as I couldn't find one two weeks ago so bought a new one. That'll teach me!
The winds have died down substantially though there are still the odd gusty blows. I have a parcel to return - one of the ones I tried to last week when I found that the supplied label wasn't for Royal Mail. The company has now emailed me a new one so fingers crossed.Take care everyone - hope all is OK for @Scarlet's OH. Hugs all round.10 -
Morning all
Dry and bright here but there is a chill in the air and I was cold in bed overnight, I have my thin summer duvet on but I bet if I change it back we will have another heatwave 🙄
I hope everyone stayed safe after yesterdays storm xx
I have my two people coming today and we are going to meet our friends and go to a local sunflower maze, we have been for a couple of years now and it’s beautiful, there is a cafe there too for a drink afterwards.
I got an email back yesterday re my complaint, it was a bit long winded but basically they have said that mistakes were made during the original review process and protocols were not followed, they are putting an advocate in place for Rob an independent person who will advise what’s in his best interest, I am thrilled to bits as this is what I’ve been saying all along that he needed an independent person and not his mother. He will continue to live at home but now has 12 hours of care per day which is much better. I feel happy now that he will be protected, and his opinion will matter! I do miss him terribly but at least I know that things are changing.
Dinner tonight will be carbonara with the left over gammon from last week. I think I will try and do a grocery delivery this week as I don’t know when I will manage to get to the shop.
I have a zoom meeting later regarding my new lad and his behaviour so that should be interesting as to what they say and how to handle it when he does kick off.
Scarlett I hope all goes well for your DH xx
Have good days all and take care xx8 -
Hi everyone,
Being southern softies now (albeit originally Lancastrian) we escaped much of the storm, just a bit gusty and rainy, lovely sunshine today though.
The inside of the house looks like a tornado has hit it. L and B are sorting through their possessions (why have they waited three years to do it). They have booked the removers for the 21st, hopefully their house will be ready by then. Most of their furniture has been in storage but it seems that it wasn't completely watertight because some of the things had got mould on them. It's ok on the hard furniture but a mattress of ours is contaminated so we'll have to replace that. Annoying because it was a very good quality, relatively new one.
I'm helping as best I can and the children have been at nursery/holiday club for some days. Not today though so we'll go along to the library and do the activity there. Tomorrow we're planning a visit to Shepreth Wildlife Park and hopefully will meet Crystal and Nate there. They went to Bestival at the weekend and Crystal says Nate is really tired so they may not make it.
Hugs to all the poodles and sad people.
Have a good day.9 -
Morning all, what a wicked wind yesterday. I got soaked the 1st time I went out, then was very wary of any trees that might fall on the park. I stayed in and did a lot of bookwork for DH &DS2, more to do today as well.I saw on our local news about camp sites etc TA, glad you were ok.Ruby I'm so pleased they eventually got back to your complaint, and happy Rob will have support going onwards.Izzy that sounds a great place to visit.Scarlet, hope the scan is ok for DHTea will be pork fillet with mushrooms.Enjoy your day & stay safe:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, glad you're safe and have power. My windows are really mucky too!
Bright and breezy here this morning but I'm sure rain will fall soon. Yesterday was really quite windy at times, it went between brilliant sunshine and blue skies to dull, wet and gusting winds. Pleased to hear that so far everyone is ok, that must have been very scary TA. I heard from DD, they are in a wooden hut somewhere on Lewis, I really hope they manage to salvage their long awaited trip - the little one will be desperate to get back onto the beaches!
Well done Ruby on looking out for Rob, I'm sure nothing would have been done if you hadn't put in a complaint.
Hope all goes well for your DH today Scarlet.
I'm going into Glasgow today to meet with a friend for lunch and have a wander around if the weather isn't too bad. Will call at DD's on the way back to see if there's any damage - I was going to go and put things away yesterday but decided going out on the roads would be a bit silly.
Allotment before lunch, I'm sure there will be more courgettes! There will definitely be beans to pick, just hoping the supports are still standing.
Have a good day, take care. XX

Hello all, I hope everyone stayed safe and undamaged from the storm.
I delivered Dad's shopping to him yesterday and got soaked taking it from the car to his house, I then sorted his bedding and helped him change his bed. We booked our next holiday away in the van for September, a new to us site in Somerset. We'd become creatures of habit and only went to a few sites known to us, so this will be a change.
The weather here wasn't too bad in the afternoon yesterday and it became very warm, not so today and I feel it's quite cool this morning, only 14 degrees at present and cloudy.
We may go to the caravan store to look for a new 'van cover if it doesn't rain, their website is awful so we'll go and have a look. They have some new vans in the showroom so it would be rude not to take a look at them although we're quite happy with the one we have now. We may have to give caravanning up in the near future anyway because of our health. I have to pack up a birthday present and write a card later ready to take to Son-in law's tomorrow.
RedRuby well done on keeping on fighting for Rob, I hope he has a good life now. Good luck with your new lad too.
Scarlett fingers crossed everything is ok for your DH.
Snoozer sounds like your home is upside down at the moment, good luck to L and B, shame about the mattress.
Take care all
