Do you remember when every piece of clothing said "Dry Clean Only" This is reminding me of the same sillyness!
I shop online at the supermarket that is partnered with M&S, and at the end of the shop they have the flash sales, I saw some cooked chicken breast slices and thought they would be perfect for putting in the freezer and over time using them for taking to work on sandwiches, when he shopping came it said "Not Suitable For Freezing" the ingredients are just as you would think, chicken ,salt sugar, (although why sugar!) So I started looking at other things that you would not expect, and yes, lots of food that i know can be frozen and have been for years says this. I am of an age that did Home economics at school, but the younger ones don't get that now and a new person just leaving home will believe that, and act accordingly or worse still throwing it away for no good reason.
Just like when I was younger and hardly ever wearing a dress I really liked because I could never afford to have it dry cleaned.

The food has probably been frozen previously before it got to shelf.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Pre frozen was my first thought, but they are also putting it on a red pepper & aubergine dip , its already the consistency of baby food so that's not it.perhaps I just have a downer on m & S right now.1

With regards to the food, it may well be how its been handled or processed previously.
I think there's alot of people throwing away good food they could eat. Most people don't eat the skin of bananas or kiwi's and their perfectly fine to eat. People often don't eat the green leaf's on a cauliflower either. I know people who won't eat rice unless its fresh or eat meat on the bone (let alone eat offal).
You mentioned sugar in your post -----> i stopped buying supermarket bread and make my own as shop bread has alot of other things added to it.
Ive got a Victorian cook book which has a rhyme from the 1700's which goes something like this:
The best of the fruit you eat
The next best is pied
The best of the rest is turned into wine
And what's left is put in the pig sty
Its something like that, but the point is nothing is wasted.
In the last couple of months I've made Jam, Victoria sponge, biscuits, apple pie, rice pudding cake, scones, rock cakes (and i often wonder how many households bother to do the same or do they just simply buy everything from a supermarket where these things contain additives & preservatives).
People don't even bother to grow their own veg or plant fruit trees in their gardens.
Hayho never mind

I have frozen a lot of M and S items which were "unsuitable " for freezing . Some included a pot of " dip" " dressing or marinade" which the texture might have changed during freezing. All were perfectly ok when defrosted but did need a good stir to reamalgamate the sauce. If I only have a choice between freezing something for use later, or throwing it out because I can't use it in time, then I would always freeze it and reassess condition later. I've never had any bad experiences. I think M and S are being ultra cautious to avoid breaking any legislation and to minimise any possible complaints.1

I had a good run on getting camembert cheap with one supermarket that would reduce it on its sell by date.
That was when, with standing in the kitchen for a few days it got perfectly ripe and delicious 😉
Unfortunately that never happens now.
A lot depends on what the food is. I might well freeze the chicken but if I had time I'd cook it first. Then freeze itI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I haven't touched supermarket bread since covid when we bought our bread machine, that is also when I cleaned up my diet all round, no UPF here I thought a few slices of roast chicken would be pretty clean eating but I have noticed that M&S love to use seed oils ( I gave them up during covid as well)and if not oils then sugar.Strange you should say about people not eating chicken on the bone, my grandson is like that he is 14 not a toddler, I never understand why my daughter goes along with sillyness like that, when ever the family have chicken drumsticks for dinner she has to make a couple of sausages for him.2

I believe it's not to do with being previously frozen. It's to do with changing the quality/texture/taste.
Probably more noticed on high water content dishes (veg) dairy products, already cooked meats.
Most other supermarkets would happily put suitable for freezing but M &S want their products to be consumed at a premium taste.2 -
Going to be honest, I'm into proper food but I can't really abide bones - so chicken breast or boned thighs not wings or drumsticks. No ribs. I really don't like gnawing things.
It's not silly, it's a preference, just as some people don't like tomatoes or beans or anything else.0 -

very much against gnawing of bones, as she always said “you’ve got a knife, so there’s no need to eat like a dog”.
@singhini interesting that you eat banana and kiwi skins: do you cook them? and if so, how do you prepare them? Do you just rinse them first, or scrub them as one would an apple?“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️
