I have made duck confit today.  I used goose fat that I had in the freezer from a roast goose a while ago.

Where could I get duck fat from that is affordable?  It looks really good and I would like to make it again, but with the prices I have found it will cost more than the duck legs!

One alternative would be to sous vide them, but don't have the equipment for that.   Yet!

You can buy jars of duck fat, just as you can buy jars of goose fat, whether they are "affordable" is a different question - how much do you want to pay (ideally)

Ocado have this as an example which is £1.34 per 100g

I do believe my OH simply uses lard.  He salts the legs, slow roasts and then has a casserole pot with a good fitting lid that it all fits in and goes in our fridge that's in the garage as it's likely to sit untouched for quite some time.  Online Tescos is showing 2 different brands of lard, both 250 gm blocks, Stockwell (50p) and Britannia (£1.25).  Given that you might need at least 2 blocks it is much more MSE.

I'm thinking if the fat I have gets too salty I will cut some lard in until I have another goose or something.
