Yesterday was another semi-storm kind of day. Still high blustery winds with nasty wee showers. I had to go out to return the parcel - still no go as the label needed to be printed out. When I did I saw my storm damage, my lovely big pot with beautiful red rose had blown over. It was top heavy so there must have been one gust too many. The chap up the hill came down to right it, eventually. The main stem had grown through the base hole and was in the ground so moving the pot around was difficult. A few bits of slate and some stones under it made it level, unfortunately the plant is very battered and looking awful. Once it's had a wee recovery I'll take cuttings so that, perhaps, a new one can be raised. The actual variety is no longer available. Maybe it's time for a new one, I shall see.Apart from that my day was quiet. Today I'm off shortly down the peninsula for a hair cut and colour, I'm hopeful that the clouds will clear to make the drive more enjoyable.Lovely news @Ruby - your complaint has made a difference to Rob's life, so, despite him no longer being with you, he's being looked at more closely by the authorities which can only be good.I'm off - hugs to all. Take care.13

Morning allHope the rose survives @GersSome housework to do this morning and a load of washing to hang out and then down to DS with some provisions to see how they're getting on with the patio. DS has steep steps up to his house so it depends when the delivery arrives and is transported to the back garden as to how much they get done.Have a good day all x13

Thanks for the start Gers and hello everyone else! After a good morning yesterday of window cleaning, dog walking and craft stuff…… the afternoon got suddenly taken over by a trip to the hospital. DMs blood levels low and oncology team rang to organise an urgent transfusion (which she’s having today) which necessitated blood tests and cross matching. Must admit they’re very efficient; she’d had the blood test Monday am and a nurse rang at 9pm on Monday night to check she was ok because of the results. Unfortunately our local hospital hadn’t any capacity so we had to go to the one nearly an hour away so that was the afternoon gone. DDad will take her back this morning and I’ll collect her later once she’s been topped up! Good job she gets free parking!I’ll try and finish the windows today as well - there are so many I have to do them in stages (insides);and the conservatory will have to wait for a non-sunny day. Need to do some sewing, or at least the cutting out for a birthday present needed next week.Egg and chips requested for dinner so no prep needed there which is a bonus.Take care all

Morning all
Dry here but feels chilly again, autumn seems to be creeping slowly in, we have about three weeks till our holiday and some hot sun which I am very much looking forward to.
Thanks for the good wishes re Rob an advocate is exactly what he needed so I am very pleased with that and the extra care I think he will be ok.
Dinner tonight will be fish fingers chips and beans nice and quick and easy, I did an Ocado delivery for later too so that will save me goimg this week.
I am meeting my new lad Matt this morning with his mum and we are hoping to go to the day centre he will be attending, we tried last week but he was too heightened to even attempt it so fingers crossed today will be better, the meeting went well and has given me some insight into how to deal with him if he kicks off.
Im so glad there was no significant damage in the storm.
Have good days all and take care xx14 -
Morning All
Thanks for the starts Gers and Scarlet.
My storm damage was similar Gers, one big pot with a plum tree in blown over. No mess, I just righted it but it really is too big for the very large pot!
Dry and sunny this morning with a bit of a breeze, will do some washing to put out once I've had a shower. I've put some out already, it was on the airer from yesterday so it should get a good blow to finish it off.
Lovely day in Glasgow apart from the traffic - we had to go past where they are filming Spiderman, lots of smoke and bright lights! Lunch was lovely and we had a good chat then a wander at a couple of shops.
I've an appointment this morning then I'll go to DDs to put the bins out and check for storm damage, allotment after that for some more digging.
Hope your DM is ok Allie.
Good luck for today Ruby, sounds challenging.
Take care. XX11 -
Morning all, thanks Gers ( and Scarlet). Weather report says mainly sunny but the big grey clouds overhead beg to differ.Might hang on a bit before I take LDog out.I had another busy morning yesterday doing the admin for DS2 ready to take to his accountants - he might be good at building etc. but when it comes down to the paperwork he's not very organised
but I understand it a bit, working full time, teenage DGD wanting lifts etc, DGS always got something footie related, & with him being a coach too his time is always taken up. Good job Mum can step in to help.
Yesterday my previous NDN got back to me & we have arranged to meet for lunch once she gets back from her hols - it's been over a year since we last met so am looking forward to a catch up- when the boys were younger we used to be quite close. We all enjoyed the pork fillet yesterday - I cut it into small pieces and stir fried with mushrooms and onions. Tonight it's chicken kiev.A tiny patch of blue sky is appearing so I shall get out for our walk now. Take care all.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)12 -
Morning folks. After 2 days of getting battered all is calm today. Sunshine is expected too. I've just been out putting all the blown over pots upright again. There are branches and leaves everywhere so a sweep up to do later.
The temperamental boiler here is playing up again so I asked site bloke to have a look. He said it's nothing simple he can do so needs to summon the boiler service and fixer man. It cost us about £250.for him to fix it at the start of the season so I am fearing the worst this time and expect bad news. Meanwhile I am boiling the kettle for washing up and strip washes! There is a shower block but my legs are not up to the trek up to it.
RUBY that is such good news about Rob and his future care. We'll done for fighting for him. Have a good day folks if you can and take care all. Xx

Morning all, sunny and yesterdays load of washing is still on the line waiting to get warmed up..Meeting friends today for a catch up and then some bits and pieces after that. Totally got distracted then and went off looking for jam jars, thermomixes [ just looking, can't afford one of those] and seed packets... Right, second cup of tea and away time!uby, that is such good news about Rob, fingers crossed it truly is someone independent...You never know, if he or they get to be in charge of his money, he might come back out with you again. Gers, shame about your rose, but hopeful for cuttings...Scarlet, hope the scan went well. Allie, shame about the distance but great they're on the ball! Izzy, I might have to factor in a trip there then, but actually do it, not just talk about it
Nie to see you empting the freezer
snoozer, it's all happening isn't it! It'll be stange when they're not there that's for sure...TA, at least you're avoiding falling down banks so far this time
stay safe! nanny, what about a motorhome instead of a van? Less work to sort and tow... Take are all, enjoy the day if you can.

Good morning
Thank you the start @Gers
Rain was forecast for the past couple of days but nothing materialize. Garden is so dry and I'm struggling to keep it watered.
Tomatoes and courgettes are doing well.
Ruby well done fighting for Rob, hope all goes well with the new lad.
Allie, hope your DM is okay
Take care
