Good morning all. It's glorious outside though not due to stay that way.

Morning. Thanks for the star Gers
Lovely start here too though I think we’re due for some storms especially those of you in the north!
Yesterday consisted of blackberrying (think the best ones are over now though have picked about 7lb) and also snagging some more free wood from the building site over the road. That is now cut up and I sanded another batch ready to work on over the next few days. Christmas craft prep is coming on well.Today needs to be some chores including sweeping the ‘shed”which has more soil than the garden at the moment. Need to clean the inside of the van too. Plus Bdog needs a decent walk.Hope everyone enjoys their Saturday and can prepare for the storm as necessary.

Morning allI think the wind must have changed direction overnight as I woke up cold at around just before 6 this morning. Have warmed up now!A couple of chores to do today. Changing the bed and making some rock cakes. Looks to be dry today so will get out into the garden later and clean the bird baths out and re fill them. The woodpigeons get in them and leave them half empty after their splashing about.Have a good day all x13

Morning All
Absolutely beautiful morning - the sun is shining and there's not a cloud in the sky. Perfect day for working at the allotment.
Couldn't really get going yesterday so must try harder today, washing to do and some general tidying up. Yesterday I cooked some beetroot for salads, pickled some shallots and cooked some courgettes that have gone in the freezer. Doesn't really matter if they go mushy as they will just go in soups over the winter.
I have a bit of shopping to do, I'm going to see DS1 and family tomorrow. Don't see them often these days so it'll be nice to catch up and see the DGC.
Hope your get together went well Mehefin.
Hope everyone's well and you have a good weekend. Take care. XX12 -
Morning again - the sea fret dropped in just after I posted. @Chrisca, yes, it's colder here too. Only 8 degrees first thing. @AA the blackberries here are just about ready, takes longer up north! The 'universe' provided me with a task yesterday. My gardener texted about getting some plants from a local place, it's a chap who grows and sells from his house. I zoomed across and bought two Astilbes, one cream tall and one purple and small. They'll get planted next week. Whilst nearby I took a photo, my place is barely visible in the far background. I then had a brief meeting in town, nothing taxing. This morning I will, reluctantly, do some shopping. It's the fresh salady stuff which needs replenishing and I'd like more chicken. My monthly spreadsheet updating has been hampered today by a couple of banks' websites being down. I must remember to go back to them later today.I hope that all are doing well, getting some sunshine and relaxing. Special hugs to @Mehefin.14

Good morning, thanks for the start Gers.
It's fine at the moment, but the forecast's not looking good.
Dh wants to go out today, to Bishop Auckland, to visit the Palace of the Bishops of Durham. We can bus it, so no problems. I'm tired after a disturbed night but I'll perk up.
I was glad to see your post yesterday SO, was wondering if you were all right.
You're wonderfully well organised with your big clear out YorksLass, keep at it!
Thoughts to you Mehefin, on your Last of the Firsts, hope you're ok. Well, as ok as you can be.
Glad the little one enjoyed her holiday Dp1, she does so well.
Hope you have a nice break in the van TA.
RosyRed, the Royal 'We' gave me a smile! I do it as well.
Hope everyone has as good a day as they can thoughts to the sad and poorly people. Take care folks.13 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. Not to be outdone it's a beautiful start here too! But I'm not looking forward to Monday and the forecasted storms for us Ooop North. Worse for Gers and CAMELOT though by the sound of it though.
I'm on pins here waiting for updates from DD. A small convoy of 4 cars left here at 4.00 this morning for the drive down to the ferry for their holiday on the Isle of Wight. DD has never got used to motorway driving, despite driving for going on 30 years. So she isn't heading the small convoy down! Eldest DGD's latest text said they had just left Watford Gap services and were on line for the earlier ferry than they were booked on. So depends if room for all their convoy. Now awaiting another progress report.
I need to pop down into town in a bit as there are a couple of bits I need that I couldn't get on my order yesterday. Plus I need to call in B**ts about my meds as I haven't had the usual text telling me they are ready. I hope they are as I desperately need the BP meds I am out of and I will be at the van for 9 days from tomorrow.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. MEHEFIN I hope you had a lovely evening yesterday. Take care all, stay safe xx

Morning all and thanks @Gers for today's start. It didn't rain here yesterday after all but it was very dull and dreary. Today we're promised a dry morning of variable cloud and sunny intervals with cloud building in the afternoon and maybe the odd isolated shower. Temperatures around 20 deg.
All jobs done yesterday and I even squeezed in a nana nap in the afternoon. Not something I normally do but I felt the need.
DS is coming today and he's forewarned me he's bringing his chess set - I hope my brain's fully woken up before he arrives! He's also commandeering my washing machine as theirs has given up the ghost. This is #3 in their list of woes - cooker, boiler (both replaced) and now this. I need a couple of bits and pieces from the shop and after that I'll be hunkering down for the weekend, probably the beginning of next week too, thanks to Storm Floris - we're in its predicted path. Summer seems to have deserted us.I'm having a lazy TV dinner tonight of beef in black bean sauce with egg fried rice, apple pie & custard for afters.
@Chrisca - I used to replace my summer hanging baskets with bird feeders over winter but stopped when I realised the little birds didn't get much of a look in, thanks to magpies and squirrels. I need to look for better replacements.
@Gers - that's a lovely photo.
@Scarlet - I have to "plan" before I tackle the big jobs otherwise it would be total chaos!
@TA - You might have to have a sit-in at B**ts! I hope you don't get blown or washed away at the van.
Have a good weekend, take care and stay safe. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Hello all, long time no see ! Hope everyone is plodding along nicely. I've had a lot going on here and decided to come off MSE when I failed to be recognised several times. Hopefully it's all sorted now. My health has deteriorated again plus now my BP is sky high so my med dose has been raised. My GP is also investigating my kidney functions as I've had 2 blood tests this week with "anomalies", I now have to have another BT next week and then I have to make an appointment with the GP. Mr Fix It is still holding his own with his cancer but his oncology reviews are getting closer together as they are keeping a closer eye on his raised levels.
I've had a big birthday too, I'm now 70 😲 when did that happen. I've had to renew my driving license and my bus pass. Mr Fix it has the same birthday coming up in Sept and will have to do the same renewals, so oh joy we're real oldies now 😁
We've also had 2 holidays and hopefully will be going away in the van again in Sept but it is getting harder to set up. It used to take 2hrs from getting to the pitch to coming back with the shopping but now it takes 4 hrs just to set up. It's do a bit then have a sit down with a drink then do a bit more !!
My Dad is still with us but he is getting weaker and more frail by the day. Last week he asked me to sort his tin cupboard and I found tins going back to 2012, unfortunately he asked me to put them in date order and then put everything back 🤢. I also sorted his freezer and managed to get him throw out some prawns from goodness knows when.
DGNephew has finally sorted out some new accommodation out since his step father did a bunk and left him in the lurch. He will move in with a friend and have his own room. It's not ideal but better than the LA accommodation of bunking up with up to 8 strangers. He's not moving far but we will always keep in touch.
We also have new neighbours who moved in yesterday, it's a family with children and the first time any children have lived there since I moved in 40 years ago. Hopefully they will be a nice family.
The wm is on as it's a sunny day but set to go downhill from tomorrow. I need to sort out my freezers and tidy my shed, I'm not sure everything will get done, the heart/head is willing but the body is weak. I've also got to do an online sm shop for Dad later tonight.
Sorry that's turned out to be an essay. Take care and hugs to everyone.
Love to all
nan xx
