Torque wrench for engine building
Hi I'm replacing the clutch and refitting the gearbox and cylinder heads/barrels on my BMW motorcycle. For the work, I need to torque bolts from 8.5Nm through to 125Nm (flywheel). The lower torque is for the oil pump cover. I think I'm going to need two, maybe three wrenches with overlap in the torque range. Accuracy is…

PCP payments
After some advice. Had my car for 17 months on PCP. It has developed a major fault, and the garage cannot source the part so it is in for long term fix (nonidea how long this will be) My question is, am I responsible for paying for a faulty car that I cannot use, through no fault of my own? As the Finance company 'own' the…

Reposting this in a better suited thread 🤞just seeing if anyone’s had a similar issue Last few months the engine management light has been on/off - taken it into Ford 5 times and the end result is a new wiring loom and some sensors and pcm (not sure that’s the part but the ‘brain’) - will be just under £5000 to do all the…

Space saver tyre 15" for car with 17" wheels
I have a 15" space saver but my new car has 17" wheels (I thought they were going to be 16 to be honest) I can see from Googling that its generally OK for a space saver spare tyre to be slightly smaller for a short, lower speed trip but is 15 -> 17 inch difference OK? What do you think?

Bought defective vehicle from broker
Late last year I bought a rather expensive camper van from a broker. The purchase took several weeks to complete during which time necessary checks and servicing were carried out on the van (which is only 3 years old) including a “habitation check” that ensures all the onboard facilities are working - lights, hot water,…

Vehicle excise duty (VED)
Does anyone remember tax discs? Colour-coded by month, you’d
tear round the perforations and insert them in a little PVC sleeve on the inside
of your windscreen. It was a selling point if your new car had 11 months to run,
but if your vehicle excise duty had expired (or was about to), you’d be
straight down the post office…

Contemplating rejecting an older used car - do I have a case?
Hi all I've very recently purchased a used "fun" car, which is approximately 15 years old. The vehicle was sold to me with a few known faults, that I felt comfortable sorting out myself. This was stuff like scuffs to the paintwork, brake rotors needing replacing, etc. However, when I got back home after picking the car up…

Repair garage has damaged my car..
Hope someone can offer some advice on right and possibly mechanical knowledge. I’ll start by adding I’m not experienced with cars I’m relatively new to it all. I have a 2018 3008 with the 1.5 blueHDI. I’d heard about issues with the 7mm chain. Cars in with a well established local garage, for cambelt+pump, upgrade kit to…

Road resurfacing, potholes
It's everyones favourite pastime, to complain about potholes. I have noticed in my area a few roads are getting resurfaced, but they are not the ones with potholes, which is strange. The potholes will get a temporary repair and it may last a few months. Does this sound familiar? They do sometimes do a large section of a…

Is it worth going through Admiral Law personal for injury claim?
Hi all, On Monday, my younger brother was involved in a car accident, hit by a drunk driver. His little old car is a write off and the lady said to us on the phone he doesn't have motor legal protection on his policy, and that Admiral Law will be in contact about his injuries. Mum took him to walk-in hospital for a checkup…
