insurance companies don’t ask if you have Immobiliser or Dashcams
Why is it that motor insurance companies don’t ask if you have Immobiliser or Dashcams’ (Front & Rear cameras) fitted when you fill in your car insurance quotes form? Having them fitter (as an extra) as I do must make your car more protected from theft and cash from crash. Just asking? Regards Stan.

Will nobbly tyres allow me to grip better on these?
I got a bunch of these: https://www.mudcontrol.co.uk/ They work great to stabilize the land however I tried to drive on them today and got stuck twice!! It is not only the issue of mud coming through, which I am able to manage with the other grass mesh underneath. Even without loads of mud on the mats the van spun because…

Part Exchange Cars in Limbo?
A compound close to a car
dealership in Midlothian Scotland is currently holding 40+ cars which all appear
to be part exchanged but are being left to depreciate, which is shame, as there is a high demand for 2nd hand vehicles. A sample of 21 cars shows
they are all in auctionable condition and have all been taken off road…

Car Insurance Legal Protection Confusion
I was about to sign up for Co-Op car insurance, but then I read this review which states "while it offers £100,000 motor legal expenses cover, this can’t be used to pursue costs from drivers who turned out to be uninsured."…

vehicle classification & tax
Bought a 3.5t panel van, was professionally converted to a 4.5t horse lorry. In the past you sent off the V5C and supporting documents to DVLA to change the classification from N1 to N2. You get a HGV MOT and pay the tax for Private HGV vehicle accordingly. This is what the government website advises - In reality it is…

Taking PCP financed car abroad (EU)
Would like to know what are my options here. I plan to take the car on a holiday trip overseas (EU) that would overlaps the maximum abroad driving limit set by the finance company policy documents. It is going to be under 90 days abroad so the car is covered insurance wise for the full length of the trip. I requested to…

Car insurance. Question re writeoffs
Last year someone ran into my husband's car. She admitted liability. His car was declared a write off. He had fully comprehensive insurance. Husbands insurance paid out approx £4k, plus scrap value approx £2k. This was approx £2800 short of full market value which the insurers assured him would be claimed back from the…

First car for 17 year old
My son is taking lessons and will be looking for a new car once passed. I’ve seen lots of sites with suggestions for first cars but we’re finding they’re not particularly accurate. For example one site states Fiesta which was always a popular first car but the insurance is sky high, even doing a quote for 21 days time.…

Car Insurance - To Disclose or not to Disclose ?
I normally drive a small family car for commuting and trips out but I recently hired a LWB van to help a friend move house. I promptly pranged it. Fortunately, I had the foresight to purchase excess insurance cover so I should not be out of pocket but my concern is whether to disclose that I have made a claim against that…

Solicitors - notice of right to cancel
Today I signed three contracts with a solicitors firm to help me with an injury claim for a motor accident. After signing the documents I read the reviews and quickly realised this is not a trust worthy company and they say they do ‘no win no fee’ and then proceed to charge fees after losing the case. The contracts in…

The power of MSE forums / coincidence?
Not a question, but this made me chuckle. I was literally typing out a query a few mins ago asking if anyone has any recent experience on how long a V778 number retention document takes to arrive. As I was about to hit 'post' - the postie pushes it through the letterbox :) (If anyone was wondering, it was 1 week btw)
