You can specify (on many) how many months you pay up front.  When I leased for a few years I liked to keep it at 3 months.

  • There are many with either 1, 3, 6 or 12 x monthly payments as the initial deposit. The lower the deposit the more the monthly payment will be.

I normally use nationwide vehicle contracts.

You can use a site like Carwow and set the initial deposit at whatever you like, when I did mine I only did one month.

And of course the spec of the car plays a big part in how much you pay up front as well.

I'd check with your employer. NHS Fleet don't need you to be on a 'managers wage', but you do have to have a minimum left over wage and there's a max you can do on salary sacrifice. NHS Fleet is so much cheaper than a private lease with no deposit and all in except the cost of the electricity.

Deposit on a lease is a multiple of the monthly payments, it's fully in your control if you are looking at an actual lease car and not mistaking PCP for a lease. Needless to say if you choose a smaller multiplier for the deposit then all the monthly payments will go up.

There is a good thread for personal lease deals on the piston heads website that I have used before

I have also found that most deals are available on the leaseloco or leasing.com websites.
You can configure the search to specify the amount of the upfront rental.

    https://www.leaseloco.com/
    https://leasing.com/

Your current car needs "a part", so you're going to sign up to a five-digit financial commitment over multiple years for a heavily-depreciating asset with high finance charges?

This.. why sell when it's repaired.

The old 'my car costs too much to run so I'll spend way way more on a new one'
