12 months ago I received a text for a new electric car deal for £199 per month. I live in a mid terrace house with no way to have an EV charger fitted. How would you buy a used car for around 20k. PCP/Mortgage Finance?
Contemplating buying a used car. For the last 20 years I have bought a used car and kept it for 6/7 years and then got rid - I drive a lot of miles circa 15k. This will be my 4th car as its time again after 170k miles on the clock, and repeat problem! I would probably get £1500 from we buy any car. I don't have 20k, but…

1st MOT early test?
My car's 1st MOT is due 23rd May this year. As I don't have an MOT certificate, I'm not sure if I can present it for test up to 4 weeks (or a month?) prior to that date, and still have a full year till 23rd May 2026. I always book my cars in as early as possible in case there are any issues, so could anybody please confirm?

Spurious VED Reminders
Car tax due 1st March this year. Paid by credit card on 8th February. Payment confirmed by Amex, and the car is showing "Taxed until 1st March 2026". I continued to receive regular reminders by text and email, which of course I ignored. But today I got "The tax has now expired".. Is this a known problem?

"MOT test certificate could not be found"
Hi all, I'm trying to retax my van online but am met with the error "MOT test certificate could not be found". For context the van is nowhere near due an MoT/PSV/GVT yet as it is still much too new. How can their ridiculous system not realise this? Any advice on how to sort this would be welcomed. Regards,Risteard

Are Ford ripping me off?
My wife's 7 year old Fiesta's check engine light came on, and the local Ford garage replaced an O2 sensor. When the fault recurred for the second time, the garage said they 'suspected' that an oil seal had developed a leak, allowing oil to contaminate a wiring harness, which they recommended replacing at an estimated cost…

Buying a Motability car at end of lease
Just to make people aware you can’t extend your lease if your car is over 20,000 miles. Also now you are unable to buy the car at the end of the lease either. I have 7 months left and been looking and between the AD payment and the style and setup of the car there is nothing that suites what I need. I thought I would ask…

Pothole damage claim - is dashcam good enough evidence?
Hello all Recently I hit a pothole and damaged the tyre and tyre pressure sensor, costing a total of £400. I still have not filled a FOI request but looks like there were not any other reports before I hit it, but two after I did. Regardless of what the maintenance was on the road (TfL authority, not council) is dashcam…

Rejecting a car on finance due to fault
Hi folks Hopefully someone could help me with this subject as I'm not sure where to turn. I bought a used car less than two weeks ago. I was involved in what I believed to be a no-fault car accident. My insurance company collected my car for assessment and has deemed my car to be a category B write-off. After my car was collected, I spoke to a motor bodyshop who said it was repairable to a roadworthy condition based on the photos of the damage and my…

Someone drove into my parked car and drove off
I have fully comprehensive insurance and protected NCB (4 years). The car is drivable and it is body damage but it is a 13 year old car, and speaking to a few garages, for parts and labour to repair would cost more than my excess. I am wondering if it is worth contacting my insurers? Part of me thinks no, just repair it…
