Opening accounts
It seems to be impossible these days to open an online financial
account without a mobile, so it looks as though I’m going to have to bite the
bullet. I have a mobile but have never needed the phone function.
Since I am only going to use it to receive texts from banks etc, what is the
absolute cheapest way to achieve this.

IDMobile gift via MSE link
Took SIMs with IDMobile and used the link from MSE for a £30 Amazon or Curry's voucher in February. Neither arrived so started the process of claiming after the 90 days were up, they changed this to 120 days so waited some more. Completed the Google forms from Awin that didn’t work. Told by Awin it was now Gift Cloud.…

Block Charge to Mobile?
Saw the latest scare on Rip of Britain> Charge to Mobile & if your mobile is stolen thief could rack up charges to your mobile phone account. They said one can block this feature but did not say how to do that(?) I have a limit on my account. I hope this would limit my risk to £20

2 year contract with 1 year discount, never ending contract!
Hi, is anyone else out there stuck in a never ending cycle of renewing a 2 year contract with only 1 year of discount? I've been stuck in this cycle with Onecom and can't see a way out. They only offer 2 year contracts but the discount they apply is refunded at a later date and only lasts for the first year. This way you…

O2 Price Increase - How Should I Handle This?
Hi everyone, I just received an email from O2 about some upcoming changes to my Pay Monthly mobile plan, and I’m not sure how to proceed. Here’s a summary of the key points: * Price Increase: From April 2025, the cost of my airtime plan will go up by £1.80 per month, but the device plan cost will remain unchanged. *…

Vodafone VeryMe Feelgood Fridays
Hi All Have Vodafone VeryMe rewards stopped doing Feelgood Fridays? I don't remember seeing anything about it stopping or being paused, but there hasn't been anything for the last 2 Fridays and there isn't anything locked until tomorrow either. It's a shame if they have, as they had some really good rewards and offers on…

Phone contract ended and DD carried on.
Hi all. Not sure if this is the right place to post this. My son had a mobile handset with virgin. They then merged with o2. Since then his handset contract has come to an end without us realising, and he has paid over £300 via the direct debit they kept taking. We have tried contacting both companies and both say they…

SIM Only fixed amount increases
O2 are increasing both my SIM only contracts by a fixed £1.80 next year, a 33% and 26% increase for each - way bigger than under the old RPI + 3.9% I believe this will apply to all contracts (so much higher payers will get much smaller % increases) and similar fixed amount increases have been announced by other networks.…

Mobile phone DSR line rental
Hi, I’ve recently returned two mobile phones I’d ordered online from IDMobile under DSR. The boxes were not opened and the return was accepted and completed without issue. However, I’ve now had a text message approximately 2 months later from a debt collection agency, stating I owe them £12 that IDMobile claim they have…

Looking for a SIM only pay as you go for alarm system
I used to have a virgin sim in my home alarm system that would text me and call me if the alarm went off. I was expecting this to be working however last night the alarm was triggered and no text or call came in. On checking the alarm it was a false alarm but I was alarmed to hear that Virgin Media in their infinite wisdom…

Old BTCellnet PUFFL tariff - credit balance
I have an old BTCellnet (now O2) Pay Upfront for Life SIM card from 2002. I received a text from O2 today advising bill has been produced and my 96p credit balance will be carried forward. Any other PUFFL users out there had the same? Not had a bill or made a chargeable call for years so surprised to see a credit.

Why does texting 65075 for PAC incur a charge?
O2 informed me today that my price will increase substantially for my SIM only monthly contract. I found a cheaper price on this site and I wish to keep my number. I've not done this for a very long time so I am unsure of the process. Apparently I text PAC to 65075 for a code. When I began to do this in my phone, it warned…

EE and 1pMobile
Hi there I wonder if anyone might be able to offer me some advice/insight. I am currently with EE. Last month I was caught in a pinch for data and the purchase of additional meant (to my mind) very unreasonable costs. This caused me to shop around. My understanding is that 1pMobile offer a package (calls texts and 25GB -…

Help confirming Saily eSIM is set up
I’m a massive technophobe, so please bear with me. I’ve installed a Saily eSIM for my holiday and went through the activation process and it shows as ‘active’ in the Saily app. Checked my Vodafone app and I was charged £7.39 for a days data yesterday (landed on holiday yesterday). I set the eSIM as ‘primary’ as told to…

PAYG Sim with longest expiry
Having run out of data for the first time ever the other day and being in the middle of nowhere, about 200 miles from home, of course Waze wouldn't work. I do keep a spare phone in the car but naturally I'd forgotten to top up/use it within the last three months and mobile data wouldn't work. I've upgraded my data plan on…

Broken iPhone Screen when being repaired
I took my iPhone 12 mini 128gb to Timpson for a new battery
(Cost £50). I was told it was not a genuine battery but all would be fine, however when
replacing the battery the guy in the shop broke the screen. He said he would order a new screen and fit free of charge, I asked would this
be a genuine apple screen and he said…
