Hi

Am I correct in thinking the free three PAYG SIM is no longer a thing?

Cheers

  • Well there's this one.

They'll try very hard to flog you a data package with it but push on through and they'll send you one for free.

AFAIK you can just add credit and use as an ordinary PAYG.

Three is insanely expensive for PAYG:
    https://www.three.co.uk/support/pay-as-you-go - Calls - 35p a minute     Texts - 15p a text    Data - 10p a MB

You can probably get better elsewhere purely for rates.

Very true, but the OP request was for a free SIM card, not a good value one.  :)

There used to be a "Three Free Data Reward SIM" which gave you a bit of data/texts/calls every month for free,  but Three pulled the plug on it quite some time ago.

Sorry I was going to go through but I couldn't remember seeing the data package options last time I got one. Just wanting it for the port dance.

    Thanks for every one's replies.

Edit. Tried pushing through but can't see a way of avoiding a plan.

I've figured what's happening. Your link goes to a page that shows the free SIM but quickly redirects me to another page, where the only option is for the bundles. Tried on my other phone and another browser and it works ok.

Just to jump in here; for me I'm not sure why pushing is mentioned - as I've got a port dance on the way too I thought I'd give it a go. As such I did this:

Used @flaneurs_lobster first link and got this:

Then on the same page (to be fair, it's not obvious in the slightest) clicked where it says free SIM and is underlined:

And it took me straight to basket:

Other browsers may vary though to be fair.

I think it was either my browsing history or cookies causing me the problem. All sorted now.  Cheers
  • I had an interesting conversation with someone of the Three customer service, as my brickphone suddenly stopped showing my 3 registration, and instead shows "deactivated". Also text messages to my 3 number still go through and open once, but if I go back to my messages they do not show. When talking to Mr Customer Service he said, yes unless I buy a data package that will be the status - how is that even legal? So I own a brickphone Nokia 110, which does not really do any data, and I just need it for phone/text messages, and cannot use it for calling or sending texts without lumping in some money every month for a £$%£*%$ data package I cannot even use??? Has anyone else this issue, and / or logged it with Ofcom?
