o2 sim only deal ending

Im currently on o2 with 50gb 5G data.

o2 have offered me to renew at £11.80pm from 3rd Oct.

However I've seen a similar data package from o2 at £8.50pm.

Would o2 allow me to take out a new sim deal and port my number onto that sim to obtain the £8.50pm new customer deal ?

Comments

  • Probably not. Don't forget that going with O2 will likely cost you an extra amount each spring, so your £11.80, or £8.50 per month will increase each year of the 24 month contract by typically £1.80 each year.
Many of us have "jumped ship" from the likes of O2 and gone with a virtual network, such as GiffGaff (O2) or 1p Mobile (EE). The latter have 50 GB, 5G unlimited speed data, 30 day rolling, no contract, 14 GB EU roaming inc Channel Is and Is of Man, for £10 per month.

I have a contract with O2 which I've renewed at lower rates the last couple of Octobers when Black Friday deals pop up.

So I can call o2 and barter for a lower price as I'm coming up to renewal date?

I was able to find a black Friday deal and ask to move to that rate. They checked online that the deal was a valid deal before giving it to me. I think you're not likely to get far with bartering without something else for them to compare it to, either with O2, or somewhere else you'd consider moving to.

    Apologies for butting in.

I just spoke to O2 as I’ve cancelled my contract with them and I asked the same question as the deals being offered on Uswitch say new customers only but he said they’re third party providers so you can buy the new SIM with them and port your number over or they can help you move it across if you phone so yes you can get the better deal but only through a third party provider - they couldn’t price match the deal themselves which seems stupid
