Hi I have a contract for my mobile phone with Virgin which ends in March 2026 ( £11 ) per month. O2 took over from Virgin so my monthly bill is £9.41 on top of the £11..As we all know O2 are hiking up their prices..It is a SIM only with O2..I am not savvy with phones, only want a basic phone for texts calls and the odd photo...I have upto the 24th November to cancel my O2..Can I do this by taking a SIM from say Tesco..without a penalty for what I owe to Virgin for the actual phone?

Also to add to this, I was on the phone to O2 for 50 minutes before I got through and then I couldn't really hear what they were saying..Do you think it is best if I go into a O2 shop?..Thanks in advance0

No, avoid an O2 shop like the plague. There is no cooling off period if you are talked into something there that later turns out not to be suitable for you.
I'm not clear on what the specifics of your contracts are. Did you have a handset on contract with Virgin and then O2 took over the airtime part? Are you still paying Virgin or are O2 currently taking the £11 + the £9.41?1 -
Thanks for your reply..I have a mobile originally from Virgin which O2 are currently taking the £11 plus the £9.41..On my bank statement it says Virgin Payments for the £11 which confused me...Thanks for the advice about going into the shop..Its just that I would have liked to talk to someone face to face rather than someone on the phone ( eventually ) who I can';t understand what they are saying0
