Divorce
If a couple married for years with adult children divorces, is the split via courts always 50/50? IE, the price of the property, money in bank, pension, car, jewellery, etc etc. I'm guessing if the couple agrees and get something in writing the split would not need to be 50/50. Though we've never been given money, what if…

Estranged wife
Where do I begin ?... I have been married to my wife for 8 years. She came here on a spouse visa 4 years ago. She spent the other 4 finishing her studies. She gave birth in February last year. Every since she came back from the hospital, she seemed like a different person. She would be flippant and proper rude. After…

How to fairly take on a family business
Our parents run a holiday home business. In a few years they plan to hand over the properties to avoid inheritance tax. But they also want us to run the business side. It's relatively straightforward as there is a customer-facing lettings company too. Basically involves restocking consumables once per month, keep an eye on…

Undiagnosed mental health issues
Hi all.
Using a throwaway account here to maintain some privacy. I think I just need to
rant and get this down while it’s in my head so apologies if this goes on too
long. Also, I’m aware the below will likely make me seem selfish, uncaring and
lacking understanding, which I guess is why it feels easier talking about…

Warning: Exemplar Education
Hope to warn other parents... I signed up to Exemplar Education for an online education programme for my children who are primary school age. My Dad has decided to downsize and the property transaction will free up ~ £1.3M. Instead of giving the money to his children he has decided to give each of his 12 grandchildren £100K each. Moved nearer parents - big mistake
I pop up from time to time....and really need some help. Not judgmental help, but constructive 'maybe try this' sort of help. Money Moral Dilemma: Should we leave our friend out of rounds at the pub?
This week's MoneySaver who wants advice asks... My mates and I regularly go to the pub for a catch-up, taking turns to buy rounds. One of our friends often 'conveniently' disappears to the toilet or goes for a smoke when it's his round. We've spoken to him about it, but nothing's changed. Should we start to leave him out…

How do I tell my depressed husband I've just lost my job?
My husband is clinically depressed and lost his job last summer. He is coping, on medication but is very fragile. I have just lost my job - again (I have been made redundant twice in the last 8 years). How do I tell him? It takes months to get another one as I am in a quite well paid field, consequently our mortgage is…
