Money Moral Dilemma: should I charge some of my flight change charge to my friend?
My friend and I purchased flight tickets to go on a holiday. Now a month til we fly, she can’t find her passport and wants me to go alone. I don’t want to go alone and I’ve suggested that we change the tickets but that is going to cost us around £200 each. Should I charge her at least half the change amount?

Swaps on weekends
I've been separated from my ex husband for over 2 years now. We have a 3yo daughter together. He sees her every two weeks overnight, which is his choice. I wanted to do a swap on one of his weekends recently and I've noticed that he does not respond to my emails on purpose to leave me guessing. He's never on time to pick…

Tax free childcare cap
I've checked and can't see that I'm breaking any rules by sharing so hope this is okay to post, but please delete if not... It's definitely on the topic of moneysaving! I'm really missing being with my son at the moment as I love this age (he's just turned 14 months) but have to work full time. To be honest it's making me…

Is my wife being unreasonable?
Hi all I'm starting to resent my wife but not sure if I need to be more accommodating or if she does. A few years ago, she came into a new religion and part of it means she can't do any work on a Saturday, or anything that requires people to work or spend money. This means the only recreation outside of the house is going…

Eharmony ‘deal’ - don’t bother
This old chestnut is back! Tried it last time through MSE link, entered all details and answered extensive questions only to get the end where payment was required. I queried this with Eharmony and was told it was nothing to do with them and wouldn’t honour the deal if it hadn’t come through on the link. Complete waste of…

IHT403 (Gifts) - declaration of £250 gifts over and above £3k annual allowance?
I'm completing IHT403 (Gifts and other transfers of value). In the last few years my late mother made a series of gifts (usually cheques) to her children and grandchildren. Most of these gifts were £200-250 each, but cumulatively amounted to >£3k in the year in which they were given. The instructions at the top of the form…

Ex Partner Remained in Our Home and is Wrecking It.
I left my sons' father in 2015 as our relationship was terrible. He refused to negotiate at the time, our kids were then 3, 6 and 8. We owned a house together as joint mortgagees and £35K was outstanding then. He took over the mortgage as I rented from the council. I left the house with him in good faith and it was in a…

Issues with 18 year old at home
Ok, so we have an 18 year old living at home. Spends 99% of time upstairs in their room playing Xbox and goes to college (when they feel like it, and if they do they are always late) and from conversations has no interest in getting a job. Will eat loads (had a full tea last night, then had a huge bowl of cereal after and…

How to assess a good primary/secondary school?
As I am searching for properties, when it comes to location, I am also trying to take into account the schools and their quality. I am now finding myself confused more than ever because there seems to be a general view that schools in south of Manchester are better than those in North of Manchester. News and other…

Is there any point in having one of those DNA tests done?
Just wondered if anyone has done one of those Ancestry type DNA tests and if they produce any worthwhile results, or are they a waste of money? I was born before my mother married.
