Winter Heating Oil payment
It has been announced that the Winter Heating oil payment of £200 will be paid directly to my electricity supplier. Will my electricity supplier be forced to refund the money to enable it to be used on my heating oil bill ?

Solar Panels and Outfox the market
At the beginning of February Outfox the Market (my current dual fuel supplier) said that my DD would have to increase in line with the rising cost of fuel. I explained that I didn't agree to that as I was about to have Solar Panels installed which should reduce my bills significantly. I was told to call back once they were…

LPG contract going to run out in March. Do I have to sign up then, or can I wait until Summer?
Hi Small question as a new-ish LPG user: our Avanti contract is going to run out in March (we will hopefully have a full tank by then, if they actually manage to get to us in the next week - but that's another story. Grrrr). Do I have to sign up (with them or someone else) immediately so there is no break in contract…

£200 Alternative Fuel Payment can be used by Suppliers to pay Your Electricity Arrears
EDF have refused to refund my AFP, despite my electricity account being £383.17 in credit. Despite having promised to do it when it arrived, they are insisting on another meter reading before releasing it. I gave them a reading on 4th Jan & I'm not due another bill until April as I'm a quarterly direct debit customer.…

Solar panels without Smart meter?
We are in the process of applying for a government grant/ interest free loan for ASHP through Home Energy Scotland. As part of the application an advisor phoned me today to suggest we consider Solar panels as part of the application as there is additional funding (unspecified) towards that. Our existing heating is oil, but…

So the discretionary fund is.....**drumroll**.......£100 measly quid!?
Am I reading this right? :open_mouth: Guess we can just go ahead and order our heating oil then. :( I wonder how people will get their £100? How can the government check if you have an oil-fired boiler? A scan of your latest receipt for heating oil? I sense a hoop coming our way.

Domestic Heating Oil prices - have they about stabilised?
I notice that the price for domestic heating oil noticeably went down a couple of days ago but has recovered somewhat today. As I will soon need a top up for my tank should I be biting the bullet now or is the price likely to drop again? Alternatively, are there any web sites or blogs which make fairly accurate predictions…

Solar Together (London Mayor initiative) - appalling lack of service from the installer
Hello to fellow forum members I'm sure we're not the only ones who have been thinking of installing solar panels recently. We took part in the Solar Together initiative marketed by the London Mayor, paid for survey and since then, it's all been downhill. The survey deemed our property suitable for the panels, and an…

From OVO on the alternative fuel payment
Received this by email on the 7th. As part of HM Government's energy support this winter, we're sending you your £200 Domestic Alternative Fuel Payment in February 2023. This is being given to eligible customers in Great Britain who use alternative energy sources to heat their homes, like oil, coal, liquified petroleum gas…

How much heating oil do you use?
I filled my 500l tank just under a month ago, and now it’s empty again?! It’s never ran out this fast. Heating has been on a little more than usual as it’s been so cold but it has on other years too without it running out so fast. Surely this isn’t right? I can’t afford another £500 :( I have a 2 bedroom semi, heating…

Contents Gauge or Indicator for 19kg Propane Cylinders
Hi,We have a two cylinder set up with automatic switch-over, and I'm looking for suggestions as to how best to check the contents. Weight would be the ideal, but it's a pain trying to balance on bathroom scales holding the cylinder, and actually the hoses might be too short to do that anyway. Anyone have any clever…

Anyways, got told that this £200 will be transfer towards my electricity!!!! Anyone else has this info? I would really prefer it on my LPG, can they…

Calor Bulk LPG - major issues?
I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the apparent issues at Calor? I've had a search round a few consumer sites and can't find anything but there seems to be major problems. We ran out of gas on Saturday morning (despite being on auto top-up). Phoned Calor 5/6 times over the weekend, always told the same message…

How do I claim?
Hi All. I pay for 47kg lpg gas bottles online with Flogas to heat my home, as there is no mains gas supplied in my area. How do I claim for the £200 help in February 2023 as it is not supplied through my electricity supplier?

Heating Oil or Mains Gas?
We are currently renovating a property and are in the position of having the choice of either a mains gas or kerosene boiler. Mains gas is obviously much more convenient but is there a way of comparing the cost of the different fuels? I have seen various figures for the energy content of kerosene in kilowatt hours but are…

Government grant pellet boiler
We receive an annual grant from the government for the pellet boiler that we installed. We had it replaced and had our engineer sign off the paperwork. However, it was discovered that the engineer had let his accreditation expire he provided a further membership number, which was false. The government rejected our grant.…

Help! Does anyone have experience of pursuing an LPG supplier (e.g. Calor Gas) through the courts?
Hi there I'm hoping someone here can help. We've just heard from CDRL that our complaint again Calor Gas has been rejected. They are charging us for a full tank of LPG following their gas leak caused by a faulty sensor that they replaced in July 2022 and acknowledged was an overdue repair. Their defence is that they claim…

Diesel Heater, emergency use & costs vs gas combi boiler + electric supply for it?
Hi. I'm really thinking of every option at the minute. Background: I live in a 1 bed ground floor flat, fairly well insulated, currently havnt had to turn the heating on and temperatures havnt dropped below 19.5c. No chimney, have a garden. The combi boiler is rated 5.1 - 25.6kwh. Last year it ran for 5 hours on the…
