The Great Hunt: Have you used a loss assessor to help with an insurance claim – and was it worth it?
Hello there Forumites. A loss assessor is someone you appoint to fight your corner with an
insurance claim (so we're not talking about a loss adjuster, who's appointed by
the insurer to assess claims). We want to know if you've ever used an assessor,
whether they were helpful, and if they were worth the money. Please let…

Group Income Protection after leaving employment
A company I worked for had a Group Income Protection plan with Legal & General. In 2016 I made a claim, which was rejected. I appealed but they still rejected it because they say it was caused by 'stress at work' (whereas, in reality, underlying depression caused an extreme response to changes at work). I left that…

Post accident purchases
I was involved in an accident while on holiday, which left me with a thoracic trauma. I will shortly have chest reconstructive chest surgery and will need approximately four months to recover. policy start date
I feel stupid having to ask here, but I'm struggling to find the answer on either of the two Insurer's web sites or anywhere else and this feels like it should be a common question - I'm changing home insurers after a 30% hike in my premium, the old policy ends in 31/7 - is that the start of the day or the end of the day ?…

Car insurance paid for repair rather than writing car off
I have had my car since August 2023, in December I had a car accident which went down as my fault as I did not have a dash cam to prove that it was joint fault. Regardless, the car was repaired but this took a lengthy time due to waiting for parts from Japan. I had another problem with the car in May (flat battery, likely…

Insurance when you rent out your whole house but live there 50 per cent of the time...
I have really found it hard to find insurance if you want to rent your house out for half the time (or thereabouts) as I can stay with my partner. The only insurer I can find to do this is PIKL who cover well for everything but quite expensive. I am sure other people must do this, any other companies that anyone knows?
