Unsustainable Home Insurance
I loathe Home Insurance renewal time, it’s never pretty and has now become unsustainable. In 2022 I had to drop off contents cover and my buildings then came in at £2674 Bed property, low crime rate, no flood risk, 5 years no claims (not claimed on any home insurance policy in 40 years) in fact nothing had changed Roll on…

Car crashed into house
Hi all Looking for a sanity check as we’ve had a car drive into our house causing structural damage to the front with the wall pushed into the room. I’ve got all the details of the car down and spoken to the driver and told them I’ll have to go through insurance to make sure the work is done to a standard (same bricks etc)…

In a separate letter there is a cheque made out to her for the amount (which is…

Whole of Life Policy: great deal or late-life burden?
Thirty years ago we took out a Whole of Life policy in trust for our daughter, to cover any inheritance tax liability. It was a good deal, paying out £100,000 on second death for a premium of £28 a month. Now our provider has begun to signal increased premiums and reduced
benefits at the next review, around when we turn…

Travel insurance via packaged account - good idea?
Hello, Planning a holiday in the US and looked for travel insurance to cover family (medical mostly but also the other 'usual' stuff, but the other things are not as important for me). After getting some online quotes I am now looking at a Chubb underwritten one. I then considered buying a packaged account for a year as…

Animal Friends Pet Insurance
I took out Pet insurance for my Yorkie dog last year with Animal Friends, as it covered pre-existing conditions if pet didn't have any treatment within the last 24 months, as my 11 year old Yorkie dog had a leg operation in 2020 and the insurance company i was with before was charging higher and higher premiums each year…

Travel Insurance - death or serious illness of relative.
Anybody know which insurance companies DO NOT exclude death or serious illness of a relative as a cause for claim. Problem is I'm not a youngster - so both my father and father-in-law are elderly. Both have previously had heart attacks - so I'm guessing I wont get cover for the case where they fall ill or worse. Thanks all

Travel insurance - Dad in hospital

My grandchildren’s home is in a trust for them as they have tragically lost both of their parents. I am finding it difficult to find a reasonable home insurance because of this. Motor insurance - the cost of commuting use post-pandemic
I currently have commuting use on my car insurance policy and assume this impacts my premium (although it isn't visible in my premium breakdown). Pre-pandemic this made sense, I commuted approx. 100 miles a day, 5 days a week. Post-pandemic, I now work from home 4 or 5 days a week so my commute has been reduced by at least…
